The following is a letter that was written to the Director of Client Services in Tampa, Fl. in regard to the problems I had in the Jacksonville office.
I am very dissatisfied with Bernard Haldane and feel that I have been lied to and cheated of $2,160 which I am requesting they return to me.
Considering what has happened to me and what I have subsequently learned about Bernard Haldane the words --scam and rip-off come to mind.
I put my trust and hope in your people and have been completely disillusioned.
I have spoken at length with Mr. Nathan Leighty, VP of Client Services at BHA in Jacksonville, Florida since problems first began and he said that he had spoken with his superior. I will discuss these problems later. I then contacted Mr. Lance Hurley, Director of Quality Assurance in Client Services in New York City and he directed me to you, stipulating that if I was not satisfied with the outcome that I should get back in contact with him.
Now for the MANY reasons why I feel your program is a waste and a scam. After I had been given an amazing pep talk about a fabulous, energetic, one of a kind advisor who was going to do wonders to help me, I was turned over to Mr. Clayton Turner, Senior Career Advisor. He may be a nice old man, but I am sorry..I dont know what his problem is but, it is far past this mans time to retire!!!
From the beginning I did not feel comfortable. When, at the first meeting, Mr. Turner said if there are any problems I want you to come and talk directly to me and no one else I began to wonder. Said once is bad enoughbut when he repeated the statement several times the bells and whistles got louder and louder.
There were frivolous pages of Inventory that were to be done that were never discussed (a total waste of time). I am sorry, but my time is far too valuable for such foolishness.
Mr. Turner told me to come into the office 30 minutes early one day to go through the O*NET Dictionary of Occupational Titles to look up job titles. I was sitting in the office directly across from his with a picture window and door open and could be clearly seen from his door.
He walked out with the client who was scheduled ahead of me and then back into his office.I figured he had to finish something up before seeing me and then he would see me.I waited Mr. Leighty stopped by on his way down the hall and chatted and I waited20 minutes into my appointment time(of which now I have waited there for 50 minutes)
I finally got up and decided to leaveat that point Mr. Turner was walking out to see if I had arrived yet !! After I explained I had been there for an extended period of time and even had a conversation with Mr. Leighty he appeared a bit befuddled and said that he had forgotten he had scheduled me to come in early to look up the material that week. That material was put away and never used in a session again. As regards to this material it is obsolete dating from the mid 1990s and useless. When teaching in the 1990s in New York State I gave that material to my 8th graders to do job searches.
On one occasion, a week and a half ahead of my scheduled appointment, I told Mr. Turner that we needed to reschedule that appointment. We looked at the office calendar, made the adjustment, rescheduled, put it in my calendar and noted the new appointment on his computer schedule. The next week, the day after the appointment that we had cancelled I received a curt email from Mr.
Turner stating that I had missed my appointment, he had been waiting and to be sure to reschedule for the future. I immediately emailed back reviewing the changes we had made as I am not in the habit of missing appointments.
By this time I was having my doubts about Mr. Turner and decided to call Mr. Leighty to discuss the matter because I did not know what to do. I discussed my displeasure with Mr. Leighty and my growing doubts of the program being worthwhile. The following are some of the issues discussed:
At appointments the same issues repeatedly discussed
Weekly assignments given, not gone over
Assignments were multi-paged, repetitive, pointless work which was basically busy work for a middle school student
The same speech given weekly about the opportunities available/but no evidence
Mr. Leighty, of course, kept insisting that he would take care of everything. The only change that was made was that the secretary began to check beforehand on every appointment that Mr. Turner had.
When I next saw Mr. Turner, we discussed my concerns openlythis discussion, of course, was fruitless. We continued with our appointment. He went to pull some information up on the computer and he couldnt figure out how to get into the website where he needed to be.this took 15 minutes. This is HIS website!!!
Before our next meeting I was to send him my resume so that he could work on it. This I did. At our next meeting he had not been able download the file. I had sent it in .rtf (which is a universal file). Luckily I had brought an extra copy with me and also my disc. At that point we downloaded it readily.
Since I have left the program, Mr. Turner has erroneously sent me 2 emails (one as recently as March 19th) meant for a Mr. Mark Ware dealing with resumes and schedules that should be confidential matter. I can supply these if you want.
When I decided that I was terminating my sessions I stopped by the office one day just before 4:00pm and the office was totally dark and locked (that was Thurs. Dec.19). I then waited till after the New Year and tried calling the office several times between the hours of 4:00-5:00 pm.
I wanted to talk to someone directly and this was the only time I could talk privately without others in my office hearing the conversation. BHA supposedly does not close until 5:00 pm and yet I got the answer machine every time and left a message.
The 3rd day I left a slightly curt message about trying to get hold of someone when the message states the office is open 8:00am-5:00pm. The next day the secretary finally returned the call but left a rather rude message saying that she left early each day so that she didnt have to fight rush hour traffic. Nice answer for a business!
I called again that afternoon and got the same answer machine and left another message. This time I received a call from Mr. Leighty sometime between 7:30 and 8:00 at night. I once again discussed everything with him and said I was done. I said I wanted a refund and realized that he was probably not the person to discuss this with and wanted the name and number of who to discuss this with.
I can go on but by now you should have the picture.the service, if you can call it that is very poor. I am done.I want a refund of $2,160 and I feel the business should be closed down before more people are misled and scammed.
This letter was forwarded from the Tampa office to the Dallas, TX office and I have been contacted but there has been no resolution to my satisfaction and once again I have the feeling that there is no sincerity and it is all smoke and mirrors.
