I have read a few of the complaints on this site and let me say... why would I want to pay EXTRA for a PSP, extended warranty, or whatever they are calling it this week? I bought a 27" TV at full price, got it home, hooked it up, and began to watch it. There was a HUGE green spot on the lower right corner and a HUGE red spot on the upper left corner.
Never having bought a new TV I thought maybe that was something they do for a while. So I let it play for a few hours. NO CHANGE! So I called Best Buy.
I was told there was nothing they could do. They refused to fix it, and said if I returned it there would be a 15% restocking fee. WHAT THE...? So now I'm stuck with this TV. So why do I want to BUY an extended warranty when I can't get service within 24 hours of purchace????
But here's the REAL KICKER! Their finance company... the TV was financed through them. After about a year of paying them I sent them a check, I mailed it in THEIR envelope, it came back marked "unable to deliever as addressed." So I give them a call to let them know it came back, and I was resending it.
It took so long to come back that I just mailed it with the next month's payment, IN THEIR ENVELOPE. Again it was returned. So I call again, and ask if there is a different address I can send it to. The lady reads off the same address that was on the envelope. So I ask her if I can make the payment in the store.
She says "no they can't accept payments" so I ask her what am I suppose to do? She suggests "make your payment." I respond "that's what I have been trying to do." She says "I just don't think you have the money and your trying to make up excuses." So at this point I see where the conversation is going so I tell her..." my account is now due 2 payments which are sitting on my counter marked unable to deliever as addressed, so how about you just turn my account over to a collection agency so that I can make my payments." A few days later a collection agency calls me and I paid the account off that day with no problems. Pretty good for someone that didn't have the money and was trying to make excuses huh?
I no longer give my hard earned money to Best Buy. I will find somewhere else to buy what I want or I will do without, but they will never get another PENNY from me. I don't even go in the store, unless I am out with someone else.
This has been my experience, I hope yours is better.
And NOTE, unlike some of the employees whom have responded to people on this site I did not get irate, put people down, cuss, etc. I look at it like this, I'm sure that my few dollars a year doesn't hurt them, but if enough people have the same problems, and discontinue shopping there they will be hurt.
Look at Electric Avenue and More. They are no more! Montgomery Wards, JB Whites... catch my drift? You can complain to management til your blue in the face... to no avail. The best thing you can do is keep your money in your pocket, and pass the word around. If you just go out and bad mouth and cuss, it will do no good, because then that person will go shop there just to see if they get the same service, and if they get good service they will drop a few bucks and then go again later. So watch your attitude, but do tell your experiences.
Happy Shopping!
