Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I was fascinated with the huge, enormous low dollar amounts you could successfully win an auction with on real gold and gem jewelry so I thought. I always wanted a tanzanite ring but could not afford it. When I saw one I jumped on it thinking someone would definitely out bid me anyway. It was listed as a $900 dollar ring. I couldn't believe I had gotten it for $900. I had to upsize it and could only do that using a credit card for approximately $25. When I got it I thought how beautiful and it looked so very very good and it sparkled. It was too good to be true. But at the insistance of a family member I took it to a jeweler for an visual before committing myself to an appraisal. He said "Well it's gold, 10 K. The diamond accents are fake and the supposed tanzanite a synthetic tanzanite. You got ripped off! How much did you pay? Well it's a lesson to be learned and thank God that's all you paid".

But I had also purchased some earrings and I showed him a 10K topaz earring and that also was syntetic. He allowed me to see for myself with the little jewelers magnifying glass which showed these straight line markings inside the so called gem. Further discussion it was not worth an written appraissal because that would cost more than what I paid which is what they require to get a refund. I did call my Credit Card company to report it and if they refuse they will take it in dispute. I intend to take this as far as I can in reporting it. I was flubbered by their outright deceit and false advertisement. I have since refused any other packages that are forth coming.

We hope to provide a response to this report so that our customers will understand that Bidz.com is a legitimate business with the interest of the customer and the company in mind. Here are suggestions to ensure customers, present and future, are never made to feel 'victimized' by Bidz.com. It is in the best interest of the customer to thoroughly evaluate listings they encounter. We sell genuine and created pieces and each listing discloses the origin in the "Showcase Presentation." The ring in question may have been a created stone. Since we are an auction site, we have no control over how much our customers are willing to pay for an item. The price that is listed is a compare price. A lot of customers are confused by this amount and do not understand that it is NOT a retail price. We are not a retail site; therefore this price is not set in stone. The best way to explain the Compare Price is as follows: This is the maximum price we have found the particular item being sold for in retail stores and on other auction sites with reserve prices. This price is merely a point of reference to see what a deal the $1 No Reserve concept is. We also suggest if the Compare Price seems inflated or you would like to contend this, most jewelers will give an estimate on our pieces. For very expensive pieces, it is in the interest of the customer to research the item as we have done to decide just how much they are willing to bid for this particular item. Again, we maintain we are an auction site. In reality, an item is worth as much as customer is willing to bid on it. An educated bid is all we ask for. Were it our policy to start auctions with a reserve price, the way we advertise it would be a problem. All auctions, however, begin at $1 and the likelihood of winning it for far below the compare price is high. If an item is ever received not as described, we offer a 100% money back guarantee which includes all fees, taxes, and shipping costs. We gladly accept those as we are concerned with quality control on all products we lend our name to. It must also be said, however, that Bidz.com does evaluate every piece of jewelry and stands by our descriptions. If a customer claims the carat weight of the item or stone is fake, we highly suggest a statement from a jeweler. This lets us know a customer is serious about the integrity of our item and that they are entitled to complete compensation. Too many times we experience false claims because a customer is just not happy with an item. We do not want to discourage returns or questions pertaining to Bidz.com terms and conditions, but we must be clear about valid reasons for returns and disputes. We hope to keep our customers happy, but must also ask they familiarize themselves with the policies agreed upon during registration.
