As P.of A. for my bother who is brain damaged but still able to function within an Assisted Living environment, I have many concerns re: his care at Cambridge Terrace which is now doing business under the company called Boniventure.

On many and numerous occasions I have met with the upper staff at this facility, only to be greeted but yet another NEW administrator or RCC; none of whom were aware of my previous concerns ,I assume because no communication was conducted as to those very concerns.

At the risk of sounding demanding, I will offer incidents over the past 4 years in which I have traveled from my home town to visit my brother in Albany, but the visit always ends up in finding him in total disarray and wearing filthy clothes. I went as far as to present his dirty underwear that I marked the last time I was there to have proof that he had not been cued to change. The clothing usually needs to be discarded as there is no amount of soap or bleach to clean them.

I could understand one or two times because of new staffing, but every visit results in the same frustrating conclusions. The mandatory 3 month meetings families and/or residents are to attend to discuss care are futile. I have indicated and written word for word how to approach my brother to get him to comply with common hygiene care, only to be told over and over that the caregivers all signed the care plan. I wonder how many actually read it, because it certainly is not being implimented.

Also, on the last visit, I was told that it would be taken care of in due time, but ;again; the employee was new and had no idea there was a problem (as I place the filthy socks and broken razor on her desk) This, too, I am confident will get no results.

The disgruntled emplyees who have written complaints about this company, I am sure, have very valid points, but Boniventure, itself is to blame as these reports seem to be endless.

Because of Medicaid restrictions it is very difficult to place my family member in just any other place as the list of people waiting for placement is long and the facilities who accept Medicaid are sparce.

I am a nurse and have worked in and managed several A.L. and Memory Care facilities until my retirement several years ago. I know how vitally important training is and therefore feel I can assess the lack of training at Boniventure. Also, I must tell any perspective clients for Cambridge Terrace, that I have NEVER once seen a nurse on site. Amazing since I am there on just any day any week any month and odds are I would have encountered a visit with one at least once in ten years. Wouldn't you think?

We are paying for care and just plain not getting it. And as for informing me about needs like a haircut, a broken razor, etc. I get none. Maybe we should see if anyone knows how to use a phone. I'll bet every single employee has a cell. But numbers to call seem to be absent. I usually leave the place in tears after confrontations with the management staff there, and don't know if it will ever change, and passing State inspection is a joke. Been there, done that.

If it is possible to place your family member, or if you are looking for a place, just walk on by this facility.
