I am writing this report because this was one agency I had worked with in the past. For one, they were a pretty good agency and very streamlined with the way they did things up until now.
For me, I personally am a brand ambassador (freelance) that works promotional events for the clients of this agency and other such agencies. I was called up to do an event in my area, as most staffing coordinators do from agencies and I insisted on doing the event. What I found odd was how I was just outright rejected on something that was not even experience related.
So let's see. Someone called me to do an event and I said I could do it. Of course, with this agency and many others, they expect you to go through their website and accept invites and apply. For this agency, they are more app savvy. So I went into my profile; however, it was just recent that I found out that they moved to an app to do logging in. I COULD NOT ACCEPT THE EVENT BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE THE APP ON MY PHONE!!! So basically, discrimination because I do not have a cell phone, nor tablet (any new piece of technology) to accept the work. That is BS!!!
If anything, most agencies still leave the computer option open or could have resolved this by booking me manually and even that was a no go. Staffing coordinator just said "Well you do not have the app, so we cannot book you!" THEY CALLED ME FIRST!!
I do not know about other brand ambassadors out there; however, I am not paying for an app (if I have to pay anything) or downloading anything just to work a job for them. I should be able to access this through a computer or they should just book me in like other agencies, manually over the phone.
DISCRIMINATION!
Was an awesome agency until they were somehow allowed to get away with this!
