Boot It Inc. Las Vegas, Nv disabled vehicle and attempted to charge 200 dollars or threat of tow with insufficient signage -very small ambiguous signs Las Vegas, Nevada
In Nov 09 - our USMC Old Boy Rugby Team was in Las Vegas to play in a Rugby Tournament. Some of us stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel and nearby Hotels. We frequented the CVS store across the street from the Hard Rock Hotel in the morning to buy supplies prior to the tournament and also following the tournament in the late afternoon. We dropped off some of the people at the Hard Rock and planned to go out later. We returned to the CVS parking lot across from the Hard Rock Hotel and went to the Hard Rock for a while to return to get Pizza from the establishment in the same strip mall. During this time - we did notice extremely small signs that did say for "customers only" and that is the extent of the verbage on the small white and black signs, there existed no information relative to TIME LIMITS, PENALTIES- etc. . As we had already been to CVS twice and was planning on Pizza in the same mall we felt were customers. Upon exiting the Pizza place - two Boot It employees walked by and sarcasticvally said "You Have Been Booted" - we looked at each other and questioned what does that mean? We soon realized what they meant - a yellow orange device was placed on our vehicle. The Boot It employees were very rude and obnoxious and demaned 200 dollars cash or threated a tow. We informed the Boot It people that we were contacting the Police. The Boot It crew kept saying it was a civil matter and the Cops would do nothing- we then stated that there was insufficient signage and communication as to what defined a "Customer" - there were no time limits or enough information on the signs to make it clear to us that we could not leave this mall parking lot unless we were in our vehicles. I infomred the Boot it crew that as this was a civil matter and we felt our right were violated to disabling our vehicle without our consent we were going to remove the boot it device and they could take us to civil court. at this time the male boot it employee became aggressive and came close to me and I told him this was a civil matter and to not touch me - he then ran around to the other side of the vehicle and shoved our tema mate out of the way to install another boot it device. To make a long story short the tow truck came and the owner - we threatened to file charges against the Boot it employee and the owner relased our vehicle without charge. The female boot it employee demanded the yellow bogus citation back and we refused and gave it to a Las Vegas resident who said he was getting a case together against this scam and said we were the only people he knew of that got away without paying. THIS IS A SCAM - THEY WILL NOT PUT PROPER SIGNS UP BECAUSE THEY KNOW THAT PEOPLE WILL NOT PARK THERE ANYMORE AND THEY WILL NOT GET ANY MORE SCAM MONEY THEN! Bobby -Tulare, CA
