i went in to Brake Masters for a check of my girlfriends brake pads and for them to possibly replace them. I expected the price which they quoted online which as 89.99 for both front and rear pads as well as machining the rotors if needed. when they returned with the estimate i was astounded at a price of 1100.00. they stated all four rotors were bad as well as all four break pads, and to top it off they stated both the rear calipers for the brake system were FROZEN.

Now im not and ASE certified mechanic but have been working on cars for years and have changed many brake pads as well as rotors. The car they inspected was an 04 mazda 6 and has had the front pads replaced once already. after being yelled at for not fixing the car that instant I proceeded to a small family owned company and had the same thing checked. they stated the front rotors were not bad but would need to be replaced within a year and that the front pads had 55% left.

they also stated the rear rotors were perfectly fine and pads were at 75% and the read calipers for the car were in great working condition. Just to prove a point I proceeded to take the car to two (2) other places and recieved the same report as when i took the car to the small family owned store. I was utterly disgusted with the way things were handled at Brake Masters. Oh and to top it all off Brake Masters manager said he would take 40.00 off because " At Brake Masters we always have a deal". I would never recommend Brake Masters to anyone and would never give them bussiness.

Mr. Lvparamedic,
I must first apologize for coming late to this party. I just recently found your post and after researching this information I believe that you are confusing us with another shop down the street that does similar work as us or this is a fraudulent post.

You mention a price of $89.99 for both front and rear brakes. I have never advertised a price for both front and rear together. (The shop down the street does and yes that is their price give or take a few cents.)  You also mention that price included machining rotors if needed. (That is included every brake job we do and it again is not advertised as a only if it is needed or not). Calipers are something that we sell very few of, yes occasionally some go bad but not that many here in Las Vegas, and yes when they are bad we recommend them. (Down the street they are recommended on almost every vehicle, that is how they are trained, and that is how they make up for the $89.00 price tag). That is precisely why I don't advertise that way, because I don't want to treat my customers like that.

Just to satisfy my belief of the confusion I checked my records. Checking for both invoicing or estimates in our computer as well as our hard copies or original files for at least a month prior to your visit. I found no evidence of looking at, inspecting, or estimating a Mazda 6, 2004 or otherwise. I have no other way to look it up but by vehicle because you have never contacted us either.

If you still feel that this could be one of my shops give us a call I would be more than happy to discuss any of this with you.
