I agree with what the other individual wrote.
I had to report Brian Figeroux to the Bar association and is waiting on a response. An attorney may say this is not the place to write such but I believe if people don't let it be known; the bar association will not let it be known on here and others need to be warn.
Everything I am about to say i have documents to back it up and I am willing to swear on oath.
To be brief -I went to brian figeroux to help me with my divorce and immigration papers. he quote me a total for both.
I later had to pull the immigration papers because when I got a notice for my cocuments I contacted him and he said he did not know what this type of paper was for. I later went to another law firm who explained to me in detail with no problem. It was there I learn I was supposed to have gotten a retainer something Brian Figeroux never gave me. I later asked but never got one.
Brian Figeroux made decisions on my divorce case without including me such as using most of the settlement funds which was to be held in escrow and be handed to me after.
I went to the office and just like this client - One of his assistant (Brenda) kept saying he is not in and tried to hand me a check with few dollars and a paper to sign that they don't owe me. She said they took what I owed them. I told her when i came in Figeroux gave me a price and I paid. She said to speak to him.
I called and then Figeroux said he did not gave me this price and there was a balance. Not to mention I had to seek other attorneys advice to make a decision because his lawyer had the worse attitude and tried pressuring me to walk away without anything but take cruel and inhumane treatment - something I did not think was fair because my case was strong according to other lawyers who told me since I paid figeroux make sure he does the job because I did not have more money to switch to another firm for my divorce and my divorce is simple.
Brian Figeroux failed to give me a retainer because his intention was to defraud me.
The bar association contacted him and his response is he gave me a retainer and showed them an unsigned retainer - something I have never seen before and at the bottom is written my address in pen but it is not my handwritting.
he tried to tell them he got me a settlement so I can stay in the country - I was a victim of domestic violence by my ex husband.
Brian Figeroux seem to think that mentioning my status at the time will intimidate me and I will back off from proceeding with the bar association.
I sent proof to them that I never once requested the settlement for my documents and my other lawyer (immigration) whom I had to switch can verify.
The bottom line is the settlement says the funds is to be held in escrow for me to use for moving, lawyers and whatever else needed.
I had already paid figeroux and so I asked for the amount so I can pay my other lawyer and moving.
Brian Figeroux took most of the money and came up with an excuse.
The strange thing is he will not see me to discuss but had the workers deal with me.
According to another law firm in the same building I went to and two other lawyers - based on the court settlement document this is escrow money and regardless of wether i owe figeroux or not it is against the law to touch any of the funds.
He told the bar that I gave him permission to use it but he is unable to show any document that I gave him such permission. He could not even give a proper breakdown and even said that Devon Clark went to court with me.
Another lawyer told me Devon Clark was disbarred.
Imagine being a victim twice.
Everything I am saying here can be back up by proof. It is not even about the money but what I realize is if this happen to me then it is happening to other immigrants who are afraid to come forward.

I have proof of being an abused woman including a restraining order and harrassing emails from my ex husband.
My ex husband later sent me a hand written letter of apology. More proof that I was a victim.
I did not have much experience going to court and Figeroux knew at the time I was depress over the abuse I suffered and he took advantage of me.
How could the people you pay to stand up for you - use you.
Something needs to be done and I will go to my grave letting it be known what happened to me.
I am here to say Brian Figeroux is wrong because my goal is to expose him.
