Your problem as fairly typical for the Catera. I had to replace all four tires on mine before 20,000 miles were used up. Fortunately, I had the job done at an independent tire shop, where they confirmed the alignment was completely messed up all along. No, when the alignment is set right, the car, despite all its other troubles, doesn't pull one way or the other. Don't be surprised GM isn't responsive. They weren't with me either and mine had over 24 visits to the dealer during a 3 year lease. I will never buy another GM product again, and from communicating with the company, it's clear they just don't care. Thank heavens the Catera is no longer being produced. Warning to potential used car customers: If you see a Catera, run, not walk, away from this turkey. No matter how cheap they are, this car is a disaster.

The Cadillac Catera is a Opel Omega in Europe or a Vauxhall Omega in England. Opel is a European Company under GM ownership. Opel/Vauxhall used to make good solid cars until GM took over. I owned a new Cadillac STS too and made them take it back under lemon law and I had the car only eight month. I will never ever buy a Cadillac again and now drive a Jaguar and I am smiling again.

Cadillac Catera?....First off, that car is really an Opel (the model of which escapes me). The Saturn "L" series is on a similar platform. Cadillac has been notorious in rebadging other cars as a "Cadillac". The most disgusting example was their Cimaron. Looked sort of like a Chevrolet Cavalier, huh? Surprise surprise! That's EXACTLY what it was. The Cadillac Sevelle was at one time an "X body" based model. X body you say?....Try Chevrolet Nova, that was an X Body also at that time. Cadillac Escalade? (or whatever their pricy SUV is called) Pick one up at the local Chevrolet dealer instead. Thousands less and you'll lose that hideous mass of chrome on the front end. The only noteworthy Cadillac "exclusive" is their Northstar engine. That is one successful, well done design from GM. (Uhh..we'll forget the very similar Olds Aurora(?)engine for now. I think it was a smaller displacement)After the Vega engine and the crappy "Quad Four", it was about time for GM to get something right. When is a Cadillac REALLY a Cadillac? When it shares the Buick Roadmaster platform. Only sort of.

This is to report that we bought a 99' Cadillac Catera. It only has 27,000 miles. The problem started as soon as we took it off the lot:brand new. The car pulls to the left. We took it to the service department 10 times and they told us it's nothing, that's just the way the car drives. Now only after 3 yrs/27,000 miles and very very conservative driving(senior citizen)the allignment is totally messed up and they say that the all the 4 tires need to be changed because they are messed up too because of the allignment. In addition to that they say that the brakes need to be changed because they are worn out. Now someone please tell me what car when driven only 27,000 miles in 3 years by a lady senior citizen driver who hardly ever takes it above 50 will have such wear and tear. Certainly not a CADILLAC you would think. They say nothing is covered. We have talked to the dealer and the company, about 15 different times and 15 different people. Repeated the story 15 different times and just getting the run around. We don't know what to do. We had never never expected this from Cadillac. We own a mercedes and a BMW and for all those people out there looking to buy a luxury car I would suggest never never to buy a Cadillac if you can afford any thing else Rohit Silver Spring, Maryland
