To give you what info I can: First, the acct. was in her Ex-husbands name (According to the "Bill"). Her credit report is CLEAN, buddy. I'm guessing that her ex may also have filed. I couldn't really say. HOWEVER, I have just learned that your company is attempting to scam a friend and neighbor from just down the road. 12 year old debt, paid off many years ago. How do you explain trying to collect a 759.00 debt from a 17 year old who was TWO when the debt was incurred? How do you explain attempting to collect a debt from someone who never had an account with the company you are attempting to collect "For"? How do you explain the attempt to collect on dismissed debts, in violation of Federal Bankruptcy law?

That means NObody owes the debt anymore unless YOU can PROVE she was a cosigner or otherwise agreed to pay it if he couldn't. Your attempts to collect it may get you in trouble with the bankruptcy court and any consumer lawyers whose phone numbers DON'T get censored off this board like mine do. Mild suggestion, Aaron: Since you're an employee of Camco according to your rebuttal, how about just not doing things that keep getting you sued? I already sued your company in Wake County District Court, case number 04 CVD 3420, which is public record, and I'm about to file a motion for class certification and move it up to Superior Court, so it's too late to do anything about that one. But if you like, you can sure come down here and explain to my hometown judge and jury all about your understanding of discharge in bankruptcy. Bring your checkbook too. BTW Aaron, according to the consent decree I read last week, it said that you people are supposed to be very, very good from now on, or else. The FTC monitors this board, so just keep it up and see what they do next.

I'm a consumer lawyer in Raleigh NC and it so happens that three weeks ago I filed suit against Camco and their "law firm" Riddle & Associates. I was in the midst of legal research last week about making it a class action when Scott the Camco Killer called me with a new and welcome development. The Federal Trade Commission filed a pre-packaged lawsuit and consent decree settling it. As of 25 March 2004, Camco and four of their execs are not supposed to be doing any of that anymore. They didn't admit to lawbreaking, but they said they won't do it again. By the time you read this, Camco is supposed to have forked over $300,000 to keep from being fined even more. There are supposed to be all kinds of monitoring and reporting requirements in place but we all know how well that works in these cases. When I dropped in here at ripoffreport today and saw complaints still piling up as fast as ever, let's just say you could NOT have knocked me over with a feather. Some people would rather make one dishonest buck than ten honest ones. Go to www.ftc.gov to see a press release about the settlement, and also file a complaint while you're there. And tell your lawyer to file suit, since he tried to settle it without doing so and got stiff-armed, while there's still money to be had. Sorry about what happened to you, but we may be seeing the beginning of the end of Camco.
