I have obtained that credit card because I was away from the US for 5 years and my credit history disappeared. When I obtained the card, I started by making 2 deposit of $500 then $1,000 from the BB&T bank account. Capital One took the money and canceled the card the next day. They never called me so I got embarrassed with my card being refused. Their explanation was that they needed to wait 10 days to make sure the bank account was mine. I patiently waited 10 days.

2 weeks later they did the same thing canceling my credit without calling me. This time when I called they could not even give me a reason why they did it.

About 6 weeks later, they canceled my card again. This time they did it because they wanted to verify that a payment of about $600 was coming from my account (Payment was done in my account Jan 20 2012). Again they did it without calling me. I knew better that time and I was not using that card for anything else than Internet so I could check it on-line before to use it. It saved me the embarrassment.

However this time, I can't even resolved it. I have called them they said they needed to call the bank. Their agent was never able to do that. He said I should fax a statement. I printed a statement from the BB&T website and faxed it to them. A week later nothig happened. Called again, they said they would not accept a printed statement because my account number was not complete and my address was not there. I called BB&T, the printed a full statement from them, I faxed it to CapitalOne on Monday. Nothing happen. Called them Thursday evening they then said that they were REVIEWING the statement.

So the payment passed in my account on Jan 20, today is Feb  9 almost 20 days later and they are still reviewing the payment. The legal delays is 10 days and after that the bank cannot return the funds. The person on the phone was polite but absolutely useless (even if he was a supervisor). He admitted that I was right but that there was nothing he could do.

Stay away from CapitalOne unless you want to suffer a lot of embarrassment. I am a person that does not use credit and I have card just because its now a  convenient way to pay. After 4 months that I am back in the US, I now have my (((competitor's name redacted))) card back and normal (((redacted))). I will cancel that CapitalOne. STAY AWAY FROM CAPITALONE CREDIT CARD.

sorry, allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company, ..plus, if you post a competitors name more than likely they will show up on search engines as a Rip-off! - - your comments on this policy are welcome.
