I am a lawyer in Houston, and in fact I'm involved in a matter involving Casa Linda Homes realty tax debacle with a home buyer. I do not represent s15240sxbaytown, however the facts stated by him sounds very similar to the facts in the case I'm working on against Casa Linda Homes. What happens is that Casa Linda subtly convinces unsuspecting home buyers that they do not need title insurance since they are the builder and financier all at once. Taxes are not paid on the home from the time of acquisition and construction to the time home is purchased, whereas your HUD settlement statement (closing statement) will show present year tax estimate and deduction or withholding from seller for this tax. Home owner will be shocked months later when hit by a multiple year tax delinquency bill, which in some instances will result in forclosure by the taxing authority. The solution guys is class-action. Some lawyers, like me who are involved in helping home owners avoid foreclosure, can actually take on this matter with little costs upfront. YOU need to fight back!!!
