Nothing this client says makes sense. His transaction was done in November of 2013 and he showed up in June of 2014 claiming that his diamond stud was chipped when the initial loan was done. We never remove people’s diamonds from the mountings. The Pawn contract says nothing about the diamonds being removed and this contract, as all of our Pawn contracts, are provided to the police every night by law. There is also a picture of the diamonds earrings in their mountings that is attached to the loan contract and was given to the customer when he initiated the loan. The customer paid for the loan for seven months before every bringing this up and after I personally inspected the items I see no chips in the stones. He has asked me to give him his $1000 loan for free and has been so verbally abusive to our staff and our management that he has a no tress passing warning from the Atlanta Police Department saying if he comes up to our offices again he will be arrested. (Atlanta Police Department Case#(((REDACTED)))). When I asked why he did not bring the chip to our attention when the loan was done he said "Because he had a gun on him and he knew if he started raising hell he would have been arrested". So he took the loan and then has paid his interest for 7 months and now insists that at the time of the loan we chipped his diamonds. If someone chipped my diamond I would have spoke up right then and there. Something just does not add up here. Now this client is trying to damage our reputation, has sat in our lobby and run clients off, and is trying to get us to just give him his $1000..00 loan back for free. Chapes-JPL stands by its excellent reputation of 35 years in business and transacts thousands of loans a year with no accusations of this nature. We never alter any jewelry and do not sell jewelry. We only lend on what the client gives us in the condition it is given. Any chips or defects would be put on the pawn ticket description. At this point because the police are involved and he has slandered us so I do not know how to proceed with this customer. Perhaps RippOff report can assist us in a remedy.
