I purchased a sony cybershot camera about 1 year ago at circuit city in MA and I ask about there extra protection warranty, the sales clerk informed me that this warranty would be a great deal and that for 4 year I would be covered for every thing/anything that happened to my cybershot camera. I replied would this cover manufacture's defect, he said yes, I ask those this warranty cover accidental coverage he said yes.

I made it clear that I would not purchase this warranty if it did not cover all of these thing. He still replied yes it does. He said it does not matter what happens to your camera we will fix it and if they could not fix it, they would give me a gift card for the same amount I spent. I said great, this is the warranty I want, because I want the best warranty available to me.

Recently about a year later my camera slipped out of me hand and fell. I said to my husband don't worry remember we purchased the warranty and remember it covers accidental coverage.

I went to Circuit City in MA and took my camera in for repairs they informed me that I had to mail it too sony. I replied ok fine and I then went home and proceeded to call sony and get the information that I needed to mail my cybershot camera to them. The customer service representative for sony ask me what happened to my camera I replied the true of course, that the camera fell.

She then informed me that I had basic coverage and that did not cover accidental damage. I explained to her that I have accidental coverage and that she should check again, she replied again you do not have accidental coverage. I said to her I ask for manufacture warranty and accidental warranty she said that I did not have that and if I had any problem I should take it up with Circuit City and not with them. I was furious at this time, could it be that

Circuit City scammed me. I then went to Circuit City and ask them what was my warranty they informed me that I had not purchased accidental coverage I replied why would I purchase basic coverage when Sony already offered basic coverage for 1 year. I notice I was getting no way with the customer service rep so I ask for the manager his name was Scott and this at the Circuit City in Somerville MA. I explained to him that when I purchase this camera I told the sales person that I wanted accidental warranty also. He responded that I did not purchase that I said yes I ask for that warranty and I assumed I had this warranty, because one of your sales associate informed me that I would be receiving this warranty. He was quite rude. He said you did not purchased this warranty.

I ask him why would I purchase a warranty that was already given to me by the Sony. He replied that there was nothing he could do for me and that I would have to pay to have my camera fixed I replied I am not paying to fix this, Circuit City is going to have to pay for this. He said no they don't its your fault that you did not purchased the accidental warranty. I could not believe what I was hearing.

They also informed me that if I did not have this problem fixed I would not be able to have me camera fixed for any manufactural defects. I would have to make sure I fixed the camera before I could use the basic warranty I had.

In other words I had no warranty on my camera until I fixed my camera.

I proceeded to call there 1800-the-city number hoping that they would be able to help me, but they were not helpful at all instead they kept me on hold for about 20 minutes. I can't take this hassle anymore, I am going to try to take Circuit City to court because I am not going to stand for this.

I JUST WANTED TO EXPLAIN,BECAUSE MAYBE YOU DIDN'T UNDERSTAND. I DID CHECK MY RECEIPT AND SAW THE WARRANTY ON THE RECEIPT. I BELIEVED THE EMPLOYEE AT CIRCUIT CITY, WHEN HE TOLD MY HUSBAND AND I THAT THE WARRANTY WE ASK FOR, WHICH WAS ACCIDENT WARRANTY, WAS COVERED BY THIS PLAN. WHAT HE DID NOT SAY WAS THAT HE GAVE US THE WRONG PLAN. THE PLAN HE GAVE US DID NOT COVER ACCIDENTAL COVERAGE. THIS IS WHY I BELIEVE THEY RIPPED ME OFF. WHY WOULD I PURCHASE BASIC WARRANTY FOR MY CAMERA. BASIC WARRANTY IS ALREADY COVERED FOR 1 YEAR BY THE MANUFACTURER, SO I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED SUCH A RIDICULAS WARRANTY. if you didnt pay for it you dont get the advantages of it... check your recipt when you leave, people make mistakes. DEEEE DEEEEE DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
