I like how your link http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/Search.asp is a dead link.... It goes nowhere. Nice try though.

Ian I'm sorry to hear that, I too attended Collins College(Tempe Campus), and graudated with a B.A in 3D animation, when I moved back home to become a substitute teacher and help out with the finances at home I discovered that CA does not recognize Collins College's Accrediting body. National Accreditation? They must be talking about it's jurisdiction not their reputation. It's a sad feeling not being recognized for a 60-70 some thousand dollar degree.

I am sorry you had a bad experience at the college. I wish you would have taken the proper steps to file a former complaint against a professor. As to some of your remarks I wanted to clarify a couple of things out of general concern. One, to find out if a college or university is accredited you should go to http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/Search.asp, that is the link for the office of post secondary education through the US Dept of Education. Collins College is nationally accredited through the Accrediting Commission for Career Schools and Colleges of Technology, which is a recognized accrediting body for national accreditation. The most concerning thing I read in your comment was that Collins College is hounding you for $6000. We do not have a department on campus that handles collections, but you may be receiving calls from the lender of your student loan or the collections department for federal loans. I went through a similar thing myself when I took time off from college and it can ruin your credit if you don't stay on top of it. One thing they often don't mention if you have gone into default status is that there is a reconciliation program that you can be set up on so after a year of good payments they will put your account back in good standing. I don't know if that is important to you or not, but if you are furthering your education in the future it is critical because you won't be able to receive federal aid until the loan has been reconciled. Good luck to you, and I am truly sorry for your experience. -staff member at Collins College
