We had COMCAST broadband internet service for over a year. We got it at an introductory rate with a promise that we could request that negotiate that rate permanently after the introductory period. Well, after the introductory period, we ended up paying $69 / mo just for internet.

They offered us on-demand cable, internet, and VoIP (phone) for two years at $99/mo. We were told we would not be obligated, but they would be obligated not to raise the rate for two years. After three weeks of introductory torture, we were sent a contract binding us to the service for two years or wed pay a penalty.

The installation was not performed on-time. We were scheduled for installation, and I took the day off work -- this was an expense to me. The installer neither showed up nor called. I had to reschedule twice.

The day it was installed, our e-mail quit working. We opened at least three trouble reports on it. Some were closed without anyone ever contacting us to see if the problem was resolved. Our email was out for over a week. The installer also didnt have the correct remote for one of the cable boxes. It was supposed to be replaced with the correct one. It is still unresolved.

We were surprised that our first bill was $169. We were promised that the charge would be $99 per month and would not include various taxes and fees. When we called to question someone about it, we was told that we were billed for part of the current month (pro-rated from install date) and paid in advance for the next month. Well, if we pay in advance, then what happened to the remainder of the month that I paid for under my previous service? We couldnt get an answer to that, so we requested the service be cancelled. We was assured that someone would call the following day to arrange for cancellation. That was over a week ago and were still waiting.

Saturday night I was looking for something to watch on TV .... 999 channels of garbage. Ive never seen so much stupidity in one place. And Im paying these producers to produce this trash? The only reason that all we have on TV is trash is that were paying for it. America is a capitalist society, and money controls everything. If we no pay, they no play.

Our phone often makes popping noises caused by ip packet loss. This is consistent with our TV freezing up and our network dropping out for up to a minute. Obviously, they have a media problem. Our neighbors experience the same problem.

In summary, their service is pathetic! I have been a telecommunications engineer for over 20 years. I have never seen a service provider that fails so miserably in every aspect of telecom. The only reason Im using the service is that there is no other option aside from satellite where I live. Its a wonder theyre still in business.
