I am an existing triple play customer of Comcast, triple play You know the one they are advertising all over the tv, thats 29.95 basic cable,29.95internet,29.95 for phone service.

Here comes the problem . My one year plan is up and now i received my first bill for 170.00 dollars. That is 70.00 more of the same plan that i was paying for the year before.

I called customer service and i was told that i have to pay for some kind of bogus charge because my promotion ended and i have to pay a new plan fee of 35.00 why? I still have my original equipment nothing changed in my plan or service.

Then my monthly charges would be 135.00, for the same basic tv, internet and phone, that i was paying 99.00 for a year.

The customer service rep apologized like 100 times but said basically in plain English that .there is nothing he could do, and that thats the price. Pay up or no service. I do not have Many choices were i live. Either take it (up The#@!)or be with out tv.

And since now (all tv stations)they are going digital we need to have a cable company it really sucks.

All i could do is talk about it.

Comcast, Cablevision, or RCN ? Which is it ?

According to their web sites Comcast and Cablevsion do not offer cable TV service in all 6 zip codes for Astoria New York. Possibly things have changed since you filed your report.

In January 2010 only RCN offers cable in all 6 zip codes 11101 - 11106.

You mention Comcast, but again, as of Jan 2010 the phone number 516-393-2111 is a New York number, not a New Jersey number.

That number is for Cablevision, not for Comcast.

So if you are reading this report, let's hope that the original poster has solved his problem, or adds information to his report.

You don't have to have cable jsut because free tv is going digital.

I dropped my Comcast last month when they jacked the price after my triple play ended (See my post "Triple play ended"). When free tv switches to digital, all you will need is a cheap converter box that will cost you $12 at Walmart if you get the free coupons (dtv2009.gov). You can use rabbit ears or an out door antenna. Their is no such thing as a HD or Digital antenna, all marketing BS. I use a small $20 outdoor antenna to get all my local stations. All I had to do was to unscrew the orange wire from comcast and screw in the wire from the antenna and connect the converter box in place of the old comcast box. Nothing to it, no reason to feel like you have to keep cable to watch tv.
