It sounds like you had a bad agent, he probably didn't want a charge back on his commision for the premium that was paid, or else the service rep at the company was retarded, in which case your agent should have known better and got you your refund. I am an independent agent and Constitution Life is one of many companies that we work with. Often times an insurance company will get blamed when in truth it is the agent that is at fault, as far as the law goes it is very plain, it is ILLEGAL for a person to carry two medicare supplements. This is the reason that most companies have a NON-DUPLICATION form with a medicare supplement application that states you will not have duplicate coverage. In situations like these your best bet is to contact your state insurance commisioner and file a complaint.

I have been an agent with this company for over a year, and am also associated with American Pioneer, a sister company of Constitution Life Insurance Company. I use this company because of it's excellent customer service. I have had premiums refunded for the same reason with no problems, and in addition... I signed up a lady who was being terminated from the group health policy because she was turning 65. The policy went into effect on June 01, 2003. Upon realizing she did not need to cancel her valuable group coverage because of Rx benefits, I asked the company, on September 16, 2003 to refund all premiums from effective date of policy due to duplicate coverage. The refund was issued within 10 days. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE, TIME AND TIME AGAIN.

I worked for this company for 2 years. Please if you have any dealings with this company, please reconsider. They are CORRUPT! Many forgeries, misrepresentations etc...I saw this with my own eyes. It is the LAW that in replacing a Medicare Supplement that an Insurance Company can not keep any UNEARNED PREMIUMS, THIS IS TRUE WITH ALL POLICIES THAT ONE PURCHASES, if cancelled you should get ALL of your unearned premiums back. Just another scam by a very bad Insurance Company. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY, PLEASE!
