I was processed/went through intake at "CPAC" for foreclosure assistance counseling, loan modification, and foreclosure assistance. The rep, Erica Swain,
[email protected] spent 1-2 hours total with me - at most - and rushed me out to meet another client - she said.
In the week before seeing them in person, I had sent numerous financial and mortgage information.
I had driven down from from Northern Calif to Santa Ana, since they insisted on in-person work - unusual among comparable businesses.
On a Friday afternoon, I was pressured, and I paid $2154 up front, and a $1454 post-dated check. The $2154 check was cashed within a few hours.
Neither the rep I worked with, nor the lawyer/owner/manager in charge was in the office Monday, so I could not contact them. Tey did no further work on my case, and have not sent me information promised, nor have they returned the post-dated check.
Too late, I decided to check them out on the net. I was very stupid not to have done so before giving them money. I cancelled the contract mid-day the following Tuesday, about one and a -half business days after signing - well withing the specified time allowed for canceling legal contracts.
Mr Lane at first said he would refund my money,"...minus some overhead...". Subsequently, the next day, he said that they had done "too much" work, and refused to refund my $2154,
and said that they would return my post-dated check.
I recommend the blog concerning them:

Several lawsuits are being prepared against them. Note especially the gentleman in the blog who is assembling a class action, or appropriate suits.
I made a complaint to the Santa Ana District Attorney. And, will make more complaints, and of course will file my own suit.
