My husband and I went to a presentation in November 2013. We spent a lengthy amount of time with the salesman who was very friendly, no pressure, etc. In speaking with the salesman we advised him of our limited vacations and that we were alredy DVC members and also like to take cruise vacations yearly.
In our talks he outlined very specifically the number of points we would need to use and had told us that we were buying into an RCI points program. After paying our deposit and finally getting membership information from RCI what we received and how to use the points don't work at all the way were were told. We were specifically told we could book a cruise for 9000 points per person and RCI doesn't have any such offer. We bought this entire membership based on being able to use the points to book the cruise that we take yearly. Salesman was also well aware that I planned our vacations well in advance and to be able to use the amount of points we purchased we would need to book within a 30-60 day window. Which doesn't work for either of our jobs and time schedules.
All I get from Coral Resorts is that we didn't buy points, but rather a week in Hilton Head and we opted to exchange or enroll our points with RCI. That is not in any way shape or form how it was presented to us by the salesman. If this program worked as we were advised I would totally have no issues with it. Sadly the salesman kept all the paperwork he had made all his figures on when we went back to the office and then came back with a possible contract for us to purchase.
They are very untrue and basically bordering fraud on their sales presentation. All I get now is that we signed a contract, however in good faith I also had to feel that we were getting what the salesman presented to us. I don't know if this is fraud, bait and switch or what. But not at all happy with the way the entire purchase has gone. I would suggest anyone who gets sucked into their presentations just tell them no. Sadly we are out money now and have a useless timeshare. I have no desire to spend a dime of my money back on Hilton Head Island.
