I agreed to join CreditRepair.com after speaking to a banker about buying a home. They stated a higher credit score would help lower our interest rate. I agreed and was forwarded to a gentleman who works with CreditRepair.com.
I was told that they would work to remove incorrect items from my credit reports.
I added my wife to the service. Here are the fees as they were explained to me:
$13.00 Initial credit report fee (Myself)
$13.00 Initial credit report fee (Wife)
$89.00 First month fee (Myself)
$89.00 First month fee (Wife)
-------------------------------------------
$204.00 Total Fees (To be paid right away)
But Wait!
Because I am signing on with my wife, I have been given an introductory first month fee of half price
Here are the new fees:
$13.00 Initial credit report fee (Myself)
$13.00 Initial credit report fee (Wife)
$44.50 First month fee (Myself)
$44.50 First month fee (Wife)
-------------------------------------------
$115.00 Total Fees (To be paid right away)
This was paid right away on 9/15/2014
I was then "texted" an agreement which the "agent" from CreditRepair.com stated he would verbally explain so that I did not have to read through it
After he spoke the same words that he spoke previously, I typed "agree" via text and we were set up.
Fast forward to 10/10/2014 (5 days before the billing date for the next month)
CreditRepair did some things, not sure what impact it had but they assured me they were working on my credit report.
In any event, I was not sold so I wanted to cancel before I was charged for the next month
I went ahead and called and...
I explained I wanted to cancel and at that point the whole conversation I had with the initial "agent" was changed.
They told me that my agreement was that I was to pay:
$13.00 Initial credit report fee (Myself)
$13.00 Initial credit report fee (Wife)
$44.50 First month fee (Myself)
$44.50 First month fee (Wife)
All this at the beginning of the month...
And then I was to pay:
$89.00 First month fee (Myself)
$89.00 First month fee (Wife)
At the end of the month - all for the same month?!?
I obviously stated that, we did not agree to that
They argued...
I stated that the "recorded phone conversation" would prove otherwise...
After some rude argument on their part, they "checked" the phone conversation...
They got back on the line, told me I was wrong, I never agreed to not paying an additional $178.00 for the first month at the end of the month and then paying another $178.00 for the second month on the same day.
?...?...?...?
Dumbfounded I repetitively stated that no human would agree to that...because it is crazy
After the fact, they stated that they, and the supervisor listened and were sure that I was wrong...
I said, if you are correct, then let me hear the recorded conversation with me agreeing to these obsurd charges...
They put me on hold for 10 minutes and came back and said they were not allowed
I said, this is a recording of an agreement that I verbally agreed to, why would I not be allowed to hear it?
They stated I wasnt allowed and their was nothing I could do.
In the end, they stated they will be charging me $178.00 in five days and there is nothing I can do about it.
You decide is this is a company you want to trust with your bank information and your social security numbers...
