I hired Archway Construction in August of 2008 to perform almost $50,000 of renovations on my new home. We needed the work done quickly, as we were the victims of a home invasion and had to make a quick move. Since I didn't have time to really research this, and time was more important than money, I made the mistake of choosing Archway, based on the recommendation of the seller. While the pricing were high, Archway said they could get the job done in two weeks, and I needed to move fast. Choosing Archway was a big mistake.

The biggest problem I had with Archway was they removed the gutters from the home and failed to protect the foundation in any way, causing TWO floods. Dan refused to accept any responsibility whatsoever, either financially or otherwise.

Dan delayed paying the stucco repair subcontractor, and then when I paid him directly because I needed him to complete the work, Dan got bent out of shape and refused to assist with providing a letter to the insurance representative.

Dan promised to fix the leaking picture window. He does claim that his worker showed up twice (with no appointment) and no one was at the home to let him in. Dan then reneged on that commitment and said he would only do the work he had promised if I paid an additional fee of $95/hour with a 6 hour minimum. It's a year after Dan worked on the home and the picture window still leaks.

When trenching the house, Archway not only failed to provide any repair to the landscape damage that was done, they destroyed the termite baiting stations.

In the kitchen, Archway charged by the hour to attempt to fix the lighting problem. After charging hundreds of dollars for attempting to correct the wiring, they gave up and said I would have to hire an electrician. I ended up having to fix the wiring myself.

Archway overcharged, failed to honor commitments, had lousy customer service, and refused to stand by their work. One of the most frustrating experiences I ever had with a contractor.

I posted this in a fit of anger, and Dan and I are working it out. He's already provided the letter. I wish I hadn't posted this, and now regret it. I urge anyone else who is thinking of posting here while things are still hot and you are mad, to wait until you are cooled off. You can always post it later. But once you post it, you can't delete it.
