Long story short Dave Priestly stole 4500 pesos from me. He promised to pay me back many times and months and months later still hasn't. He won't return any emails, phone calls, and has blocked me and all mutual friends who have tried to contact him via Facebook.
I was living in Mexico City for four months at the beginning of the 2010. I first met Dave Priestly through mutual friends while he was living in Vancouver, he was working at a restaurant and doing freelance makeup. When I left for Mexico, I remembered Dave Priestly had relocated back to his mother land and was happy I'd have a friend in this foreign country.
I made the mistake of trusting him. I was so desperate for a place that I gave him the 4500 pesos as a down deposit for the apartment because he said it would go quick. When I was supposed to go and see the place things got really sketchy. He kept making excuses why I couldn't go see it and I was supposed to be moving in that week!
I don't even know if the place existed in the first place! Dave Priestly made up a story saying the real estate agent wouldn't give back the deposit because Dave Priestly hadn't had the time to show me the place. Regardless of what is true, Dave Priestly promised me when I gave him the deposit that if there were any problems at all, I could get the money back.
When I was still in Mexico, he blocked me on Facebook and stopped returning my calls. When I received emails he was extremely aggressive and threatening (I have these on file). At one point saying, this is Mexico...what do you expect? When he finally responded he said he would give me the money, he just couldn't then.
It never happened. I got an email a few months after leaving Mexico saying he would meet me and give me half of it that week and half the next. When I told him I was in Canada and gave him my bank details he never responded.

I was having problems with my model apartment and Dave Priestly suggested he knew a real estate agent and could help me get my own place in a trendy area for cheap!

I ended up surprising him and showing up at his place unannounced. He tried to throw me out, and then sat down and said he promised to give me the money by that week.

In Dave Priestly's address information, it says U.S.A...he's in Mexico City, Mexico!
