We purchased our little darling puppy from Persis Shafer about six months ago. The purchasing went without a hitch and we were very happy to begin with.
The day after we picked her up we took her to the vet to have the vet check done and everything seemed to be fine. About 36 hours after we had picked her up she was having trouble deficating and we thought she had a bowel obstruction or something else wrong. We took her right to the vet and on the way there I called Persis to see if our puppy could have gotten into anything there that could have caused an obstruction or if they had noticed any bowel problems. She said she didn't think so and to call her after the vet appointment and let her know what the vet had to say. The vet wasn't exactly sure what was going on and I tried calling Persis to see what we should do as we were thinking we probably wanted to take advantage of our money back guarantee and would bring the puppy back to her. I tried calling her five times and she never answered the phone again when I would call or would return any of my messages.
Thankfully everything worked out with the puppy and it has been a wonderful addition to our home, but I would never, never recommend purchasing a puppy from Delightfulpups.com. If you are going to offer a health guarantee then stand behind it, or don't offer one at all.
The thing that really upset me was when we started working with her she went on and on about being a church-going person, honest, and very devoted to the puppies. Her lack of response and caring seemed to suggest otherwise.
The bottom line is, I highly recommend finding a more reputable breeder when seeking a new addition to your family.

You are very lucky your little one is alright, and I am so happy that everything turned out for the better for you in the long run. I didn't have that kind of luck with Persis, but as long as we all keep the information going, those little pups should all have good homes to get them healthy and love them as they should be. I would like to express that I am very convinced that Persis is running a puppy mill just by the condition of the two puppies I received from her, and the fact that they both came to me with Coccidia. They were from different litters, and different DOB. You can read my report, I am the one from Beloit, Wisconsin. I do feel she should be shut down, but not before the pups and dogs all get the loving homes they deserve. It is up to us that have experienced the heartache, and scares with her puppies to let prospective owners know that the chances of getting an ill pet are very great, so negotiate the price and by all means make a new health guarantee! The health guarantee that delighfulpups has does not cover the new owner at all! There are some illnesses that may not show for a week, like coccidia, because of being taken away from their mom. Always check back here to keep everything up to date. I look forward to the day I see the pups get homes and she is shut down for good. I WANT FRONT ROW SEATS! Enjoy your baby.
