Consumers: Go to the above website, read the report, WATCH the video and be forewarned about these bad vets! This is the most disgusting shameful treatment of animals and bilking of consumers I have ever read!

I will never, ever trust any veterinarian again! My companion pet died because of Lothrop's misdiagnosis, and resultant mistreatment (surgery), or was it another experimental surgery? Although the surgeon was Tony Ballagas, he is collocated with Lothrop at the Emergency and Specialty Animal Medical Center, Birmingham, Alabama, along with an opthalmologist and a cardiologist. Now I am concerned there may be some collusion to continue Lothrop's efforts.

A Positive Experience with These Vets

My shih-tzu had surgery for a ruptured disk in his neck on Sept. 10, 2008. I brought him home today. When I took my dog to the first appointment to see why he couldn't move his right front leg, both Dr. Ballagas and Dr. Milton were very helpful, understanding, and compassionate. We tried a few days of medical management with medicine to see if that would work. He didn't show much improvement so they did the surgery. I live an hour away and I went up there almost everyday. They told me I could call after 6pm to check on him. After 6pm the building is an emergency clinic. I felt very much at ease that there would always be someone there in the room with him. Any questions I had I felt like I was able to ask them. At the first appointment, I told the doctor everything I knew about my dog, his medicine, other illnesses he had, etc, because it is partly the owner's responsibility to let the vet know everything they can. When I was there Sunday, both vets were there and I was able to talk to both of them. They let me visit for as long as I wanted to. I believe the surgery was a success because now my dog is able to move his right front leg. When before the surgery it was paralyzed and he couldn't move it.
