My wife purchased a car at Car Plaza on Rt 441 in Pompano (Coral Springs) and boy was that a mistake. Luckily we only had a couple major issues with the car, such as the convertable top blowing a hose (due to the advice from the manager of Dandy Wheels). The top would only go to a certain point when trying to put up the top. The guy at Dandy Wheels (the warranty shop for Car Plaza) said that it was normal for a used car. Well, after a couple weeks of complaining and the threat of parking the car in front of thier door without the keys, they fixed it and the hose.

However, the finance company that is associated with Car Plaza, Flamingo Finance, is the complete rip off. We have been paying on this car almost 3 years now. Like most folks, we have had our moments when we had to make a payment or two late. But now that the car is over half paid off they are refusing to accept payments every two weeks as we have been paying them. We pay every other week due to our pay schedule and they have accepted that even though our "so-called contract" says weekly payments. At the beginning we were told that we could make monthly payments. That changed after the first month. Now we live in Nevada and there are harrasing us on a daily basis. If we don't pay what "they" want and when "they" want it, they say "well we can not accept that payment and we will come get the car".

We just called them and tried to make a payment and they refused to accept it, saying "we can not accept a payment that far away". We have been post dating the payments to coinside with our pay dates every other week. The last was only a week ago, and now they can not accept that. It's almost funny the way they change the rules to suit them.

Not only that, but they also call a minimum of 2 or 3 times a day leaving messages and threatening comments on the phone when a payment is 1 day late. We have even received letters saying "we require you to present the car at our local office for an inspection". Knowing full well that we are no longer in that state, much less no where close to it. We try to talk to them and make arrangements for payments and only get threatened and brow beaten. If it's not bad enough, half the time we can't even understand the person on the phone because they have such a bad accent and are screaming.

I feel in my own opinion that they are making a big push to find a reason to repo the car because it is paid down beyond the actual value of the car. Makes resale easy with a higher profit I suppose. In any case, they are some of the worst people to deal with and from what I have found, they have broken many collection laws and regulations and I wish I knew an attorney in Florida that would go after them. They would have a field day!

Just please beware, these companies are a total RIP OFF when it comes to buying a car. When you expect to make things right with them, they will refuse to hear it, trust me.

Ronnie, I simpathize with you & your wife... My Rip-Off Report #344378 My suggestion to you is to do your best to get a week ahead, so you're paying on your pay date week & the week ahead! I do understand its hard to get ahead, but if that's what it takes to stop the harrassment of Flamingo's Superior Customer Service (lol) then I wish you luck! My husband & I did what we thought (& I still think so) the right way to make our payments, via our bank's online bill pay, set-up with auto payments every month. Due to Flamingo's Superior Customer Service (lol) our payment is currently lost in transit with USPS because Flamingo changed thier mailing address June 9th, but did not notify us in time as our due date is the 20th! One repsonce I was given by Flamingo's Superior Customer Service (lol) was if I was making my payments a month ahead I wouldn't be late now! I'm just glad in our case we used our bank's online bill pay & have confirmation of our in route payment & that I didn't just write a check & mail it with my monthly statment, to that I'd have no proof of!
