To begin with, this is a Casino in Western NC.  At present, it has been under a expansion to enlarge the hotel and casino. This has been going on for some time now as it shall be the largest casino east of the Mississippi.  It is a beautiful looking place - nice to visit in the mountains of NC.  All of this is great for the casino and it is very busy in business.  My first gripe is about the games that are on the floor of the casino.  They are not customer friendly at all. Some of them date back to when the casino was first opened.  Some have problems in going on and off when you are playing them and some of the wheels on the video games seem to stick or stop in there spinning.  Some don't read your players card right away and you need to keep on putting it in and out until the light turns green. Payouts are poor in this casino compared to Las Vegas casinos.  If you are lucky enough to sit down at the right machine, you might hit a jackpot.  You end up spending more than you can make on many of these machines.  My second gripe is about the restaurants inside the casino.  There buffet has gone up in price and is higher in cost than some casinos in Las Vegas.  The food quality is very poor for the price you pay and on a couple of times i have been there, there has been real raw meat being served on the buffet.  Paula Deen has opened a restaurant inside this casino of which really looks nice and overlooks the creek.  Again, the prices you pay are very high for the area they are in.  I had a steak in there that was around $28.00 and it was fair - not great for the price that i payed.  We have a Texas Roadhouse in Asheville, NC that has great steaks for less money and bigger in size.  Being the only casino in western NC. they have no other casino to contend with so they can do as they please.  The rooms in the new creek side hotel are really nice but again if i had to pay for them again compared to Vegas prices, one might think twice before coming to Cherokee.  Don't expect to make a lot of money here and don't expect great food for the price you have to pay.  Like i said, its a place to visit and get away for a period of time, but just don't think of it as a Vegas casino in payouts and Great food.

This is also about Harrah's Casino in Cherokee, NC.  Most of the other casinos that i have played at, reward you by the amount you play. The more you play, the more you earn in FREE slot play and comps. This is not so at this casino for some unknown reason.  The last casinos i played at in Council Bluffs Iowa, were a Harrahs and a Horseshoe casino.  Believe me, at both of these casinos, you were really rewarded based upon your amount of play.  These mail order coupons sent out by this casino do not reflect this type of play at all. If one spends $500.00 in playing these machines, one should receive $50.00 in FREE slot play.  The same is in Vegas at most casinos. My stay for 5 days at the Stratosphere got me over $100.00 in FREE slot play, 2 free buffets and 2 free nights offer.  So, can anyone explain as to why this doesn't take place at this casino???  Again, a nice place to visit - but other than that, don't end up loosing all of your money.

You don't go to a Casino to make money.  If that is what you think then you should seriously consider contacting an organization like Gamblers Anonymous.

When you talk about Vegas I am figuring you are talking about the actual "Strip".  You apparently haven't been to Vegas(or at least not recently).  You have about as much chance of winning a Jackpot in Vegas as you do finding a $28 Steak.  How do you think the Casinos got the funds to build?  I can tell you it wasn't by having great payouts, it was on the LOSSES of people playing in the Casinos.
