I went to a microsoft website to get a virus protection program, that I thought would be safe. I click on the virus protection program and it immediately sent me to the helpmedownload website. I thought that was the way microsoft loaded the virus protection program.
Once on the site it asked for a 1 year, 2 year or 3 year protection program. Before I could click on the 1 year, which I only wanted to try it out because I didn't know how good it was I only wanted to try it out. But after I entered all my information the site automatically took out $87.98 for the 3 year program. I didn't have a chance to select the 1 year protection program.
Now I am seeing a $9.88 charge on my account. I called the company to see why they are still charging my account. They claimed that I used technical support that month, I have not needed technical support. When I asked them to cancel the account and refund my money they told me they could only give me $15.88.
I told them if they didn't give me my money back I would call the attorney general in my state and report them to better business, I could call microsoft and complain and I will stop payment on all future charges. I also told them to cancel this account.

It is unclear just WHICH website you visited to obtain the Microsoft Security Essentials security software (MSE), but that particular software by Microsoft is FREE! Microsoft came out with it to replace their previous Live One Care subscription-based security software program. You have only to log on to the Microsoft.com website, locate the Microsoft Security Essentials sotware page. On that page will be a large icon which says "Download Now." It appears to me you ended up on some other site that was NOT a Microsoft.com site!
Downloading the free MSE does NOT involve being transferred to another website named "helpmedownload" or which asks you to pay for a 1, 2, or 3 year subscription! To ensure you are actually on the Microsoft.com website...always check your Internet address bar to make certain it says microsoft.com! By the way...what is the name of the company showing up on your account as charging you that $9.88? Is it Microsoft or some other entity?
(Be sure you do NOT have ANY other type of security software on your computer before downloading the MSE software, otherwise you will get a message telling you to remove any such software before the MSE can be successfully downloaded).
I don't know if this is of any help to you, but there are a lot of scams going on and many will utilize official-looking websites, logos, etc in an effort to emulate the REAL Microsoft.com site, or other sites and then take your hard-earned money! I would also suggest you send a certified letter directly to Microsoft about this matter.
Good luck!
