WARNING - Home Depot is selling severely damaged GE home appliances and knowingly dumping these appliances on unsuspecting customers, making them sign a convenient waiver form at the time of sale, before delivering these damaged appliances to consumers' homes.
After waiting over a week for the delivery of two GE Washer and Dryer appliances purchased from Home Depot, an Enterprise RENTAL TRUCK with two thugs in plain clothes pulled up to my house and unloaded the damaged appliances.
When I noticed a major cave-in on one corner of the dryer and pointed it out to the "delivery guy", he pretends he is "surprised" by it and immediately calls his manager (I believe it was a fake phone call), after which he says "Well, it is Warranteed so if anything goes wrong with it GE will repair it and my boss says we can give you a $150 discount right now".
I unwittingly accepted this figuring I could always call Home Depot and do a simple return if he happens to be lying. Either way he wrote the words "$150 allowance" on the delivery receipt so I thought the agreement was iron clad -- WRONG! It was all nothing but a planned ruse!
After the delivery, I found the entire side of the GE dryer has been CRUSHED and it wont even sit level on the floor! The delivery thugs had cleverly managed to hide this from me as they were installing it - which they insisted on doing themselves of course.
This delivery was all a PREMEDITATED FRAUD SCAM which both General Electric and Home Depot are in on as I later learned. Weeks went by and of course I never received the $150 reimbursement for the damaged dryer and I was now stuck with a damaged dryer that wobbled on the floor as it ran.
I finally went to Home Depot and they, of course, were ready for me because they do this so often. They immediately pointed out that the form I signed makes GE responsible for all aspects of the transaction and Home Depot conveniently had no responsibility in this at all according to the fine print!
When I called GE at 877-470-1541, which was the number Home Depot gave me, and asked for my money, they ignored my request and simply said a technician would visit me. Of course, I asked them "WHY DO I NEED TO HAVE A TECHNICIAN LOOK AT IT? IT WAS DAMAGED ON DELIVERY AND I AM ENTITLED TO $150 ACCORDING TO THIS DELIVERY FORM!!?"
Over the next few days of getting deliberately run around by GE and having HOURS of my time wasted waiting on the phone I realized, GE was in on this scam as well. I would ask for customer support, and escalations and they would transfer me to irrelevant departments like "Accounting" after making me wait 40+ minutes.
Then they would appologize, make me explain everything all over again and then transfer me to another irrelevant department like "Employee Relations", after hours of wasting more of my time.
Eventually I simply gave in to their demands to send their wonderful technician. On the day he was supposed to arrive, I was suddenly awakened by a very rude phone call at 5 AM telling me that he is on his way, and if course he never shows up! I rearrange for another day and again... I get awakened by a 5AM phone call and same routine.
GE and Home Depot: you know what you can do with your $150 that you owe me and your damaged-beyond-repair appliances that you are delivering to unsuspecting consumers in small towns all over the country.
I AM GOING TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE KNOWS ABOUT THIS SCAM!
This report will remain online until $5000 in damages have been paid, with interest owing at the same rate as the Home Depot credit card that the defective appliances were purchased on which I believe is 25% per year.
