Horizon Servcies Extreme price gouging. Wilmington, Delaware
We are new to delaware. I needed a plumber to fix a pipe under my kitchen sink. This company looked like a very reportable company, I scheduled an appointment. They showed up on time, neatly dressed in white shirt with navy pants. Even put the little booties over their feet.
Right away they assed the situation. Asked me to sit down and filled out an estimate. The price to complete the job would be arount 2.5 hours at a cost of $1643.11. With my past experience with plumbers, it's by the hour 75-100 per hour plus materials. Are you kidding, I thought it was a joke looking for hidden cameras. He said he was serious and asked what I had thought it would cost. I told him $300 and that was onthe high end. He said they don't price by the hour but the task and that most do in the area, no one prices by the hour anymore. I politlely asked them to leave, and had to pay them $49.00 for showing up.
I contacted my realestate agent you gave me names of two highly recommended plumbers in the area and my husband received a recommendation from a person he works with. I called all three, they all charged by the hour plus materials. Hourly rates between 75-100. We decide to go with his freinds recommention. The plumber showed up 2 hours after I called. He completed the job in 1.5 hours. The invoice came to $142.50.
There are alot of 55plus neighborhoods in the area and felt that this company needs to be investigated. If you did not have experience with plumbers, you would not know any better and would pay it. This company actual said to me that they were not the cheapest but not the most expensive either. This is highway robbery. I am so discusted with this comapny.
