I am angry, frustrated, and very very upset with this company that calls itself a Auto Finance establishment. They are really wolves in disguise taking advantage of people who are down on their luck and facing hard times, with no signs of a heart.

I lost my job and health insurance and could not afford to get my insulin, I'm a diabetic. Unfortunately, I went into a diabetic coma, taken to the ER and my family was told I probably wasn't going to live. Thankfully I did but the nightmare didn't end there. When I was discharged from the hospital, I was taken to a nursing home because I had memory loss from the coma and loss of some of my functions. After much therapy I was released.

I then contacted HSBC to see if I could get my payments lowered because I couldn't afford the $285 I was paying each month, I still couldn't work and was living on help from my friends and relatives (thank goodness). Anyway I talked to a gentleman named Alfred Porter in the Work-It-Out Dept. This department supposedly was to help people out who were facing hard times. In reality, they do nothing but cover coat what the company wants them to say. Mr. Porter told me I needed to make a payment of $285 before they could adjust the payment to $140. He said I would get a new billing with the correct new amount. I borrowed the money and paid the $285.

However, I didn't receive a new billing nor did I hear from Mr. Porter again although I tried many, many times to get ahold of him (only to get a recording). After several months I finally got a hold of someone else in this dept who told me that Alfred Porter was no longer with the company and they had no record of a new premium or of the proof I had faxed him showing my monthly income and bills. I said "what happened to my file and papers". He said indignantly, he probably shredded them before he left.

I asked what they could do about my situation now, and he said, either you pay two months of $285 or they would take further action to recover the car. I'm trying not to let this upset me because I can't afford another diabetic attack but I don't know what to do now.

Can you give me a person or dept to contact in order to get this taken care of. I do work part-time now but can only handle 3 days a week. I'm really to make payments at a lesser amount but can't afford alot. Thank you for any help you can give me.

I have a lawyer who is willing to assist me with their illegal tactics if your interested, he would assist you also, what they do is illegal and I'm sick and tired of it.

Sounds like he lied just to get your payment for that month. Remember, no finance company will lower your rate because you have fallen on hard times. You have to refinance for that to happen. If they lowered your rate/terms because you cannot afford to pay them any longer would not be fair to those people who have made, and can continue to make, all their payments ontime. I am sorry that you fell upon hard times. The above was not meant to be nasty.
