Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I noticed a charge of $40 on my telephone bill to a 900#. When I check the date I noticed it was on a day that I was at work. I contacted them at the 1 800 736 7500 number. They claimed it was done through my computer. They said I had logged into their computer and downloaded software for which the $40 was being charged.

I explained that I was at work during the time noted. I convinced them that the charge was an error. The lady said they would have to mail me out a voucher for the amount on the phone bill. That I would either cash it or send it in with my phone bill payment. I then gave them my billing address to send the voucher.

Later I talked with a friend of mine who had the same thing happen to him. He said he heard that when the voucher is cashed, it acts as accepting membership with Integretel and they would bill me every month claiming the voucher was for a free month trial.

I have also checked out www.ripoffreport.com and found hundreds of complaints concerning Integretel. I believe it is a virus put out by Integretel that piggybacks into your system from other websites since I have never went to their site.

The virus stay asleep, then wakes and uses an auto dialer to dial the number in question resulting in charges being made to your phone. This information is from the before mentioned website and from a friend who works on computers. I know of two people that I work with that this has happened to also. One I know his showed the same 900# being called for two minutes and a charge of $40 for the call. The exact same as what happened to my phone bill. Any advice on how to handle this from my side, please reply.

Any information on the vouchers -- please reply.

I have also filed with IFCC and Consumer Services of my state.

Integretel - update - ways to fight

I have filed with the IFCC, FTC, my State Attorney Generals Office. I was instructed by My State Attorney General's office to contact the Santa Clara County District Attorney Office since that is where Integretel is located. Kim Coleman, the Consumer Mediator with the Consumer Mediation Unit (Santa Clara County )gave me the following website to file a complaint... http://www.santaclarada.org/scc/assets/docs/126272CPROcomplaintform.pdf I will try this and see if anything can be done. After completing the form, she says to mail to Consumer Mediation Unit 70 West Hedding Street, 4th Fl, San Jose, CA 95110 or fax it to 408-279-8742. I received a letter from the FTC with some advice... The FTC says "cramming" has been growing in the last year. "Cramming" refers to unexplained charges on a consumer's phone bill for services that were never authorized, ordered, received, or used. It is important that you report your complaint to your state consumer protection agency ( such as your state attorney general office ), since several states recently have taken legal action against companies for cramming. You should include copies of your telephone bill and any correspondence you may have had regarding the problem. I will follow up with any new information as I get it. Anyone else with advice, please respond.
