My family visited Mazatlan in Aug. 2011 and were greeted or rather held up by the people at the airport and got into an agreement for a tour. The sales woman and her manager at La Jolla convinced us that if we buy their timeshare package, they'd buy back our other vacation package for $20,000 and we would pay them $10,559 for the La Jolla timeshare. (That would equal to $0 for a new resort and getting back $10,000.)

My husband was very skeptical about this, but I didn't believe they'd do business by lying. The manager even wrote an Addendum, promising that if we don't get our $20,000 back in 180 days, they'd refund us our money in full. Not
knowing the 5-day cancellation policy in Mexico timeshare business, and not having much internet access while there, we spent the rest of the vacation time touring the area. We did check to see if our timeshare was sold after a  couple of months and were told it wasnt the tourist season and would take a little longer to sell. We waited until 180 days
passed and found out that it was still not sold. I contacted La Jolla (Mr. Kelly) for almost 2 months and was given all kinds of excuses and later was told they didn't have the money to refund. Business was bad and they were going
for bankruptcy. No apologies, just denials to follow what they had signed for.  I researched on their reputation online and found a lot of victims complaining how La Jolla scammed them into buying their timeshare.

For fear of publicity of their scams, La Jolla later agreed to refund us the money in full in 6 separate settlements. But after refunding barely 15% of it, they stopped, breaking their promise for a second time. I am hereby joining my fellow victims of La Jolla Residency, and I strongly suggest that we work together on a class law suit against La Jolla.

They are total crooks that say we cant use what we paid for unless we pay more on and on promises, we know many others that are going to join us to teach them a lesson and keep others from getting scammed. It is a shame that Mazatlan and this industry is being degraded by this type crooks---thinking they are untouchable because they are in Mexico. We are retired and will dedicate time and $ to get these crooks shut down! We are not alone, this is another forum with more angry la jolla timeshare owners:
