My 76 year old father was sold a solar panel system for his house by Laurence Hibbett and promised it would reduce all his electricity bills. He was given the hard sell in his own home. He said the saleman was pushy and wouldnt leave until he had made a purchase.
My father paid £12000 to Laurence Hibbett for the solar panels and installation. However after 6 months nothing happened. We chased and chased him and eventually some people turned up and installed 3 cheap ebay solar panels and what looked like a couple of caravan batterys.
Everytime the system switched it just blew the fuses. We called out an electrician who immediately disconnetc the system and told us it was seriously dangerous. He said he could have bought the panels and batterys off Ebay for less than 300 pounds and that the system supplied was effectively useless. Only fit for maybe a caravan.
We approached Laurence Hibbet about getting a refund and he told us we were joking and it was my Fathers fault for ordering the equipment. He refused to meet or answer any further calls.
This behaviour is shocking and a total rip off to sell such terrible products to old people like this.
