Lenn Harley is scraping other Agent's/Broker's listings and pasting in her blog posts.

You must have permission to use another Agent's listing on your blog.

Redfin, (((link redacted))), was fined $50,000 for doing this.

MRIS agent Lenn Harley writes hundreds of blogs and is one of the top bloggers in Active Rain. Blogs are a great way to promote yourself in Active Rain, it also gets potential buyer calls, and it's more exposure in Google. These blogs are no joke. They show up strong in Google.

Type BC6907652 in google. Lenn's blog, http://activerain.com/blogsview/832240/BALTIMORE-COUNTY-MD-HOME-IN-SPARKS-GLENCOE-NO-MONEY-DOWN-FINANCING-AVAILABLE, comes up. This blog scraped a listing that belongs to Morrill & Company.

This is one example of many. Just go to her main blog here, http://activerain.com/blogs/lennharley.

Keep scrolling down the main blog, and you'll see plenty more. Here you go, http://activerain.com/blogsview/824823/GAITHERSBURG-MD-REAL-ESTATE-MARKET-REPORT-FOR-OCTOBER-2007-2008. This blog post copies a Gaithersburg listing from Weichert AND one from Exit Realty Enterprises. Ok, let's try a search in Google for MC6750963 yes, it's there.

Here's one scraped from Coldwell Banker, http://activerain.com/blogsview/816695/ANNAPOLIS-WATER-FRONT-LUXURY-HOMES-ARE-A-GOOD-BUY-IN-FALL-2008. Type the MRIS number again, AA6741460, and sure enough on page 2 in google's results.

Other Realtors, are you ok with this? Is it ok if Lenn Harley blogs your Listing for her benefit? How about if an Agent does this in Craigslist or the Washington Post for their own personal gain? The Agent gets the phone call using YOUR listing and probably gets potential buyers to call in. Potential buyers that this Agent can now represent and make money from. Doesn't seem very ethical either

First I have to express my dissatisfaction that someone is basically allowed to recklessly post absolute non-sense like this and it becomes part of the public domain. The anonymous poster is completely wrong and obviously does not understand IDX or MLS rules and regulations. What she has written here is slanderous and should be removed. 

Listings of every companies properties are shared all over the internet and if you are part of an MLS you have given others permission to do so. There are some MLS boards that require the listing company to be named. Other than that there is nothing preventing company A from advertising company B's listing!

There is no doubt in my mind that this is one of Lenn's competitors that wants to stir the pot and make consumers find this kind of libel when they search for her name.

Why is someone allowed to post false information on the site as anonymous? While people are always allowed to put opinions to paper or online it does not make sense to be able to post falsehoods.

Lenn is one of the most respected members of the Real Estate community. You are not going to find someone with more knowledge, character and general understanding of anything to do with Real Estate.

If you are consumer reading this and have Real Estate needs in the area of Virginia that Lenn is located in give her a call. You will not find a more competent agent!

I believe the previous comment addressing the extended use of IDX sharing in the real estate world, but I wanted to provide a finance professionals opinion of Ms. Harley. I have spoken with her extensively...both online and on the phone and have never been more impressed with the knowledge, skill and ethics of a real person in my twenty plus years of lending. Would recommend working with Lenn over anyone in her area. I would even recommend calling her for a referral to an agent in any area. Guarantee that Lenn will not recommend someone who doesn't pass muster.

I just wanted to respond to this persons ridiculous allegations as she clearly has no idea of what she is talking about. IDX, Handshake Listings and Reciprocity is ALLOWED ... IDX Feeds are paid for by most realtors and the realtors are then authorized to display feeds for properties for sale in their ENTIRE MLS Area. With Broker approval - Handshake Listings are treated the same as an IDX Feed. Lenn is a GREAT BLOGGER and an ASSET TO Active Rain and the person who posted this has no right to say such unfounded garbage about someone in an industry she clearly knows nothing about. Sorry if it sounds harsh but I am a fellow AR (Active Rain) Member and Lenn is NOT ANYTHING this person has accused her of being! The next person may charge you with defamation of character - you may want to think twice about doing this in the future.
