There is something that you can do to stop scams like this.
In July- August of 2010, the U.S. Senate held investigative hearings on all of the waste, fraud, corruption and out and out theft that was going on in these private, for-profit trade schools and online diploma mills falsely saying that they were accredited colleges and universities --not.
They found overwhelming evidence that these "training schools" were worthless and they were also scams!
You need to find out who both of your U.S. Senators are who represent your state and then call their offices to tell them that you do not want any federal money being given to these for-profit, private trade schools and online diploma mills --and that includes Pell Grants, and any and all Student Loan money.
If they have time, you might want to tell them how your experience with the trade school harmed to your family!
When you call, be polite, and it is a good idea to have all of your information written down and keep it short and simple.
Be sure to thank the staff person for taking your call when you are done.
If you live in Texas, your Senators would be John Cornyn and Kay Bailey Hutchison.
You can google their names and they both have websites with contact information on them.
It is a good idea to call once a week on something this important and to contact everyone else you know who has been ripped off by schemes like this --or even if they haven't to also contact the offices of Cornyn and Hutchson.
You could send e-mails from those sites but it is better to call.
I am sorry that those people ripped you off.
a FREE website that might help you when it pertains to the tuition and financial aid rip off is:

I hope that this will help you and please pass it along!

Amy, I'm going through a similar situation here in Florida. Lincoln Tech took over the nursing school I was attending. Not only was I promised job placement, like your husband, I was promised extensive nursing training. As the program progressed, I found out that the training the promised wasn't going to happen. I registered a complaint with the director of education that went unanswered. I then registered a complaint with the dean which also went unanswered. I ended up catching them in the parking lot during break and they tried to give me the run around. The DOE actually told me I could be charged with assault and battery if I did some of the training wrong! Finally the Dean promises to make arrangements for this training. This of course never happened.
We were promised clinical training in the area's top hospital that has many campuses. We went there for 2 weeks then ended up spending the majority of the clincial training at a nursing home. It wasn't until we complained repeatedly that we were finally sent to a hospital for training. The hospital was a satellite site, very small and 30 miles away! Also this hospital rarely hires anyone. The Career - Job Placement office is also disappointing. I was told by the head of that department to fax my resume. I did so and never heard back from her. After several weeks, I was emailed job listings....from the internet. Jobs that I was unqualified for due to the fact that the school did not train me in those area. Also they sent me job listings for open teaching, janitorial, and reception positions AT THAT SCHOOL! If you go to the Job Placement Office, outside the door are applications.....for Burger King, Krystals, McD's, Pizza Hut and KFC! One employer called me for an interview, but when I asked about what positions they had open, they said they had NONE OPEN! Oh and none of the local hospitals will hire me despite what Job Placement initially promised.
My latest fight deals with the financial aid department. They refuse to tell me the status of my student account. I have emailed repeatedly and gone down there and called. Its amazing how often these people are in meetings, gone for the day, or just unable to return a phone call or email. All I want to know is how much has been paid to my account and from whom. But they refuse to answer.
I have already graduated and I am not holding my breath on ever receiving my diploma.
I have tried calling Lincoln Tech's Corporate Office and of course, the number doesn't get me to a live person. And it drops the call if you press 0 for the operator. At this point, all I can do is tell anyone and everyone to avoid Lincoln Tech!!
