Lithia Reno Subaru Overfilled my oil * tried to charge for warranty-covered repairs * more! Reno Nevada
Maybe things started to go wrong when I wanted to pass on the 90K service - for which they wanted $850, which is $300 too high. Then, when I wanted to pass on the CD changer repair - because they wanted to give me a $300 estimate with $150 minimum if it "turned out to be an adjustment," they didn't look happy.
I told them I'd call Subaru - and Subaru (800-SUBARU3) said about the only reason for not covering a repair would be if a drink were spilled inside. Subaru says it's not usual practice for a dealer to require a signature for $300/150. (BTW, I have a zero-deductible Subaru Gold warranty.)
The Reno dealership also told me that the CV joint boot cover wouldn't be covered in my warranty - pay up, please! Ha! I called Subaru about that as well and not only is that covered under my Gold warranty, it's even covered in the Classic warranty. Maybe by that time, the dealer knew that I would give a bad survey, and wanted to dodge a warranty repair survey getting sent by Subaru.
So... I suspect that the approximate DOUBLE amount of oil in my car may have been deliberate. Especially as Marvin, the Assistant Service Manager, totally lacks authenticity.
When I realized a few days later about too much oil, I called the General Manager, Randy. He wasn't willing to loan me a car while the 2nd oil change was being performed. He wasn't willing to pick up my car. The only thing he could say was "it would be our pleasure to serve you" and he said that again and again. Again, completely lacking in authenticity. He didn't see me as a potential repeat buyer or even as a person - just as a problem chore.
Above is the major stuff. Here's the minor stuff - and it's all the one visit:
* didn't have my list of repairs when I arrived, even though we spent time making a list on the phone
* took 40 min + to pull my car around back, even though I was waiting, and it may have been longer except that at the 40-minute mark I inquired what the ETA would be for completion
* almost 2 hours for an oil change
* person screening calls for Randy said he'd call me in a few minutes, but he didn't call me until after I left another message the following day.
* the way they treated me (female) lacked respect, including when I called that Heather would "talk to me" (as opposed to "with me"); "I was told you would be in the waiting area" etc. - making it my fault they hadn't started on the car, when I'd left my mobile phone number and they could have called Ugh!
The dealership in Carson City seems decent, I'm going there from now on. I also had good experiences with Walker's Renton Subaru (WA) and Carter Subaru (WA).
