We (my wife and I)went to this dealership (located approximately 40 miles from us) to look at Toyota Tundras. We had a salesman that showed us some trucks, but we didn't commit to any at that time. Prior to our leaving, our salesman's boss (Arfon) made us an offer of a Tundra of $28,500.00. We told him we were not interested in the Tundra at that price, and we left.

The next day the salesman called us and asked what we would be willing to pay on that Toyota Tundra Arfon had offered us. We told him that if they were willing to sell us the Tundra for the same price they had offered us on a new Sienna, ($24,000.00 even), wed take it.

He told me hed check with his manager and let me know. He called back a short time later and told me that the sales manager had agreed to sell us that Tundra for the $24,000.00. I asked him if it was Arfon he had spoken with, and he told me no, that Arfon was not there that day, and that he had spoken with the Sales manager that is Afrons boss.

The salesman subsequently called me on six(6)separate occasions to verify when I'd be in to get the truck. And at every time we spoke with him, I asked him if he was sure that the deal was for $24,000.00 even, and every time he reconfirmed the deal of the Tundra for that price.

We planned to come out the next day, and I called before coming out. The salesman was unavailable, but the general sales manager (Paul Smyth)was there. I told him of the deal that had been agreed to by the salesman and the other Sales manager, and Mr. Smyth told me that if thats the price they agreed to then you would honor that price.

Well, we went to get the truck. While with the salesman Arfon came over and sat down and began to talk about the price they would sell the truck for. I informed him that the price that had been agreed to by the salesman and the Sales manager above him (Arfon) was $24,000.00 even. Arfon asked me if I got this deal in writing, and I told him that his salesman had confirmed that price no less than 6 times by phone over the past two days.

I also told him that his salesman had confirmed the sale of this truck at that price with the sales manager over him (Arfons boss), and that I had also spoken with Paul Smyth before I came down here and he also confirmed that if that was the price offered that Lustine would honor that price. I immediately asked the salesman (also seated at the table) if he had quoted me the price of $24,000.00 and he said yes, and I then asked him if the sales manager he had spoken with had confirmed the price of $24,000.00 for that truck and he again said yes.

Arfon then told me that the truck cost him $28,000.00, and said that we couldnt think that hed be willing to sell it for $24,000.00. I told him that the salesman just confirmed to him the price quoted us of $24,000 and told him that his boss had confirmed the sale of it for that price.

Afron told me that if the salesman wanted to pay the extra $4,000.00 hed sell it to me for the $24,000.00. This continued on for a while, the whole time Arfon continuing to give excuses as to why the he couldnt sell the truck for a price like that. I finally turned to my wife and said lets go. Afron called out to me as we were leaving and asked if wed be interested if he could give us the truck for $26,000.00; (this was the same guy that had just finished telling us the truck cost him $28,000.00 and that he couldn't possibly sell it for less than that). I told him that we'd had a deal with this dealership for $24,000.00, and I wasn't going ot pay them a dime more than what had been agreed to. We left.

I subsequently contacted Mr. Smyth, the general sales manager, who one who had told me how they would commit to a price that been offered...and all I got from him was a worse run around than I had got from Arfon. After more than a week of how he would check it out and get back to me I was left with the same kind of garbage I'd received from Arfon.

Our experience has left us convinced that this place is a deceitful company that simply cannot be trusted. Their word is absolutely worthless! We would advise anyone in the Washington DC metro area looking for a Toyota not to do business with this company AT ALL!

Car dealers will tell you anything to get you on their lot. They can't squeeze you into a car deal of any kind unless you are on their lot. Do you think for one second that this car dealer's General manager ever had a chat to his sales staff about the way you were treaded? most likly he said "O well Good job of getting him on the lot". Maybe you did not sell to this car buyer but, you had a good experience of getting a "Phone Up" on the lot so you could squeeze them" Steve. Go to this below list of web site and check them all out real GOOD and then come back to your Rip Off Report and post your thoughts as to what you THINK they do for car dealers.
