First of All, I am a Stay At Home Dad, the backup order plan from Melaleuca works, if and only if you fail to order your 35 product point commitment does it come into play, this is explained during the presentation and should have been explained by the person who invited you as I do. It is better than Auto Ship Programs with other company out there, wherein the same products each and every month is shipped because all they have to offer is a limited number of products. With Melaleuca, There are more than 350 consumable products to choose from. So, Auto Ship Program dont work. As far as the 35 points commitment to get products at wholesale is nothing, just switch stores do your shopping at Melaleuca. I have NOT ordered lesser than 64 points each and every month that I have been with them. Second, like Amazon, Ebay or any other sites that do business except for companies that issues RMA (electronics), shipping and handling are services rendered or when you return products, you pay. The question is, when you have used up your vitamins for 90 days and decide that they dont work or didnt FEEL any improvement or energy, can you return them? With Melaleuca, YES, up to 90 days warranty, no questions asked. Third, I paid $29.- to join Melaleuca for the promise of non-chemical base products and it did make my family healthier with Natural based products, in fact my grandson who had asthma for 6yrs. was healed just by using their detergent, as per me, for the past 4 yrs, my oncologist or cancer doctor has blood test after blood test done on me because I might have Leukemia or cancer of the blood. And after taking their Vitamins for 4 months, I cried when they told me my white cell count went down to normal to everybodys amazement. Tell me, What price do you put on your HEALTH? Added to that, the revenue sharing program has helped me too, I made over 23K last year, just for telling people about products that are GREAT and this all happened for a $29 investment, call me crazy, if you calculate even if you spend $70 or 35 points for a year thats only $840 for a year for products that my family uses yearly, CHEAP, and this is not even part of cost of doing business, we came out way ahead. And even if, I didnt make money, just with the deduction I had on my schedule C, because I did signed up also to become an Independent Marketing Executive with them and it was worth it. Listen really hard for those dont have any deductions. Value of products was my main concern; addition income was a pleasant surprise. Im sorry, I have not made my first Million Dollar yet on Melaleuca but Im already a big big Winner when it comes to good health for my family and myself, that is KING to me! I welcome any questions about Melaleuca, their products or even the research I have done, which are now a part of me and my family now as a Blessing. Call me, Tony at 408-771-0296.. God Bless!

I have been with Melaleuca now for a month, and I absolutely love them! I signed up, paid my one time membership fee of $29 and then placed an order for my Value Pack which came out to $238. I received my membership kit and value pack, and was able to completely convert my entire house to Melaleuca products. I am also building a business with them, and am 1 person away from Director, which I hope to make next week, Lord willing.
I was put on an Overview call, when I was recruited, and in that 25 minute call, I was given a thorough explaination about who Melaleuca is, how long they have been in business, what the work at home opportunity is, and what is expected of me. I was explained that the first step to having my own work at home business with Melaleuca is to become a Preferred Customer. I did this by enrolling over the phone with my mentor, and during that RECORDED conversation, I was reminded that I was COMMITTING to a 35 point purchase minimum each month, and that if, for some reason, I was unable to place my order, my backup order would be sent out to me. This is a list of items we have chosen for use in case of an emergency or some other reason we are unable to place our orders for that month, so we would still be eligible to receive our commissions and our benefits from the company. This is like insurance, it is there in case you need it, but most of the time, you don't.
If you were being charged again and again it was not for UNAUTHORIZED orders as you state above, and you know that. That is a lie! It is for the back up orders that you did authorize in a recorded call with the company. And, you were also advised to read the agreement between you and Melaleuca. In there, it states that you must request to cancel your account, IN WRITING. That may be why you were charged month after month.
I am sorry you are having such a bad experience with Melaleuca. I truly believe that if you had taken a minute to read what you were agreeing to first, you would understand. Every business prospect I have, I schedule them for an overview call so they can get all the information they need, so that later on, there is no confusion. I truly hope everything works out for you and you get your account straightened out. But, unfortunately, this was not Melaleuca's fault.

My wife and I have been using the Melaleuca products for the past five years, there definitely is a required purchase every month, but it is not hidden in the fine print. The Melaleuca products are far superior to anything else that can be purchased else where and are non toxic so I don't have to worry about my small boys getting into poison around the house. I personally believe in the products to such an extent that I have begun to refer others to the products based upon the products not the hope that I will make a replacement income. I would not suggest this or any other approach similar to this one to make a living. You must want to use the products and use them consistently and replace the cancer causing agents used in most other cleaning products. They also employ the use of oligofructose complex in their vitamins and minerals that increases the bodies absorption capabilities of various vitamins and minerals. I would have to say to anyone that is unhappy with Melaleuca products that they probably signed up for the money part-they probably are lazy, and this is probably apparent in various aspects of their life by seeing their own shortcomings.

Sorry to be back again. We STILL had problems quitting Melaleuca. They tried to take money out of our checking account again this past month but our bank refused due to our prior letter not authorizing them to. Then the same day our bank statement showed that they could NOT get money out for a Second Backup order, they charged our Credit Card Statement instead! The Second Backup order also never came even though we were charged and they should have gotten our Registered Letter of Notice we were quitting within the necessary time frame. We immediately called our Credit Card Company and they promptly removed the charge from our billing statement telling us as they did so that they are having this problem with alot of their other customers too. HUMMM!!!??? Anyway a legitimate company would make it just as easy to quit as to join, AND would put something they are standing behind NOT IN SMALL PRINT but LARGE PRINT or not have an ORDER LIMIT AT ALL. I grant you some people rebutting here (as well as my own niece who I just found out is a customer) DO ORDER Enough to meet the quota per month, but not everyone WANTS to or should HAVE TO buy that much per month to join. I also asked about joining as a non-prefered customer but found it was way too expensive since you lose the prefered discount on already too expensive products. Besides my sister & I seem too intolerant of the smell, it bothers our asthma so therefore wanted to quit. I wish my niece and all other customers much better luck quitting if & when they choose than I had since my sponsor would never get back to me for advice or help. BUYER BEWARE!!

I am a customer with Melaleuca for over 3 years now and feel the products are the best I have every used and are fairly priced. Melaleuca is company made up of people, people at Melaleuca in the Corp. office as well as those of us in the field are generally honest people trying to do a good job and earn income. Many time people in the field do not explain the Preferred Customer program to new customers or follow-up with new customers for the first 3 months are requested by the company. When this happens, many times customers don't understand why they were shipped an order from Melaleuca. It seems Melalueca just went into their accounts and took money. Nothing is further from the truth. Each customers must sign the customer agreement and state by signing they understand the company policies. We are a 21 year old company that has the Better Business Breau Hall of Fame Award. Their logo is on our website. If we were in the practice of taking money from people we just would not be in business after 21 years. There are bad apples in every bunch. Maybe this person was enrolled by someone like that but it soundsl like they called the company and got the info they needed. Melaleuca will refund the money when the products are recieved. I have never had a customer of mine request a refund and it not happen. It can't happen over night becuase they only cut checks on certain days. It will take about 2-3 week and the adjustment will be made. We want happy customers that want to shop with us and the have hundreds of thousand of customers that love our company and products. To the person that posted my suggestion is call back and find out what day the check will be cut if it has not already been. You will be refunded.

This advice is given with the intent to be helpful, not judgmental. This is advice that I live by and has served me well. It is my hope that this advice be taken in the spirit it is given. I keep a single credit card with a small line of credit (mine is $250 maximum) that I use when ordering online and when ordering anything that has a repeat charge. I do not give out my debit card information for these types of purchases. Debit cards are linked to your checking account, which most banks automatically link to your savings account as well. Also, I never link any automatic payments (mortgage, auto loan, insurance, etc.) to my debit card or bank account. Unfortunately, tragedy can strike anyone at any time, and you can never be 100% sure that you will have x-amount of money in your account at some future date. One medical emergency can severely impact your cash flow and leave your checking account lower than normal. An unexpected layoff at your place of employment or your spouse's can cause you to have to cut back on or completely cancel non-essential (and unfortunately at times even essential) routine payments. These are times that we can least afford overdraft charges due to direct-bill-pay. Linking these types of charges to a single small credit card rather than a debit card will protect you from overdraft charges. An added bonus is that credit card companies have more lenient policies on reversing charges (even authorized ones at times). Also, if financial difficulties strike your family (which I pray they never do), you can cancel the credit card quickly and easily. By canceling that card, which can usually be done instantly, all of your direct-bill-payments are stopped. This gives you the kind of hands-on micromanagement ability that you need in such times. You would be able to prevent Melaleuca charges from ever hitting you while you work out the official cancellation. If you routinely use direct bill payments for auto loans, mortgage, insurance, utilities, etc., your card would have to have a higher limit. However, I would still feel more comfortable with linking such payments to a high-limit credit card rather than my bank account via the debit card. Just be sure to get a credit card that does not charge interest on balances you pay off completely at month-end. Link your automatic withdrawals to that one card, and pay off that card 100% each month in order to avoid interest charges. Best of luck, Tresha

You have a lot to say about what you feel the company has done wrong, but not much to say about what you have done for your situation. When you were signed up with Melaleuca, ( check your spelling), you were told that there is a commitment to purchase 35 product points per month if you want to earn a check and receive Preferred Customer prices. You could have signed up without that commitment and paid Direct Customer prices. If you do not keep up your end of the commitment, you are told you will be sent a back-up order and it will be charged to the payment choice you have on file. The company did not get your information by searching for it, you gave it to them, with permisssion to charge your account accordingly each month. I have been with this company for 6 years now. I am not making a fortune, but that is my choice as I decided to no longer work the business a few years ago. I do however order products every month, and every month I still receive a check for almost $300.00. Not bad for just ordering safer products that every person in the world uses everyday. (Unless you do not bathe, wash clothes, clean house, use deoderant, ect.) You only get out of any business what you put in to it. If you did not take the time to understand what you were getting into, you probally would never had made a go of it anyway.

I am sorry that you had such a bad expirence with Melaleuca. I have been very satisfied with them for the 7 months that I have been with them. When I joined, it stated in the enrollment that if you did not order your 35 base points a month, that a backup order would be sent. I was told this several diffrent times before I signed up. Also when I received my enrollment packet it said that a backup order would be sent out if I did not place my order by the end of the month. I have NEVER recieved a backup order. The only thing I can suggest to people is read every word of a agreement before signing. It states right in the agreement that you will be sent and charged for a backup order if you do not order by the end of the month. Melaleuca Inc., is an exclusive wholesale buying catalog club, similar to a Sam's Club, Cosco or B.J.'s Wholesale Club, which has been in operation for 21 years as of Sept 2006! They are a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and their CEO and Founder, Frank Vandersloot, sits on the Board of Directors. Their first ten years of growth outdid Wal-Mart's first twenty years of growth! They were 5th in the nation in creating new jobs, and 4th in the nation in total absolute dollar growth! Melaleuca is one of an elite few companies ever to appear five times in a row in Inc. Magazine's yearly indexing of America's 500 fastest-growing, privately held companies with an A-1 rating - more than international corporate giant Microsoft! So how can anyone say that Melaleuca is a scam when all their growth and reports show that they are a HONEST, MORAL company.
