Merchant Credit Guide ripoff False Credit Reporting and Violation of the FDCRA Chicago Illinois
I have been monitoring my credit report closely ever since I found some inaccurate items last year. This week Merchant Credit Guide shows up on my report with a debt of over $4000, original balance almost $8000! They say the account was opened on 12/10/2005, yet I have only applied for credit once in the last 12 years (which is still open and in perfect shape, by the way). They say the original creditor was CFB Financial III LLC, which I have never heard of and definitely never applied for credit with.
Luckily, I am familiar with the FDCRA and collection practices. Upon doing research, I see that I am definitely not alone. I have reported them to the Chicago BBB, the FTC, disputed the marks on my credit with the appropriate agencies, and sent a request to them for validation (not verification) of the debt. I have a feeling I will not be receiving a response from them.
We need to stand up to these thieves!

These people are running a scam here. !. check your Statue of Limitation for an open account which is what a credit card is. My state is Alabama and it is 3 years. They call here for me to call them. I am not calling them either. If your statue of Limitation is up then legally they can not collect it either. They can call you like they do me and say I can clear up my mom's credit report by sitting down and pay them $1400. I told them no and I ask if they want it they can sue but since the debt is on my mom credit report for 5 years and past the statue of limitation for my state. Please do not send these people no money. Send them a Cease and Desist letter and sent it registred mail card receipt and if you get calls after you get your green card back. Start keeping a tally because you can collect a $1000 for every contact after that. I hope this helps

Kris, CFB financial is owned by Merchants Credit guide. CFB buys the old out of stat debts, and Merchant's attempts to illegally collect on them. A perfect scam!
