I locked my keys in the car. Searched on my phone for a service to unlock my car. Found one for $25 and made sure to inquire with the telephone respondent that it was, in total, a $25 charge. He confirmed it would be $25 + tax.
When the locksmith / guy-who-would-break-into-my-car arrived, he told me about all of these additional fees he would have to charge me. I argued with him about these fees, politely, and fed his ego about how cool his job was. He told me he could "break into every car on the street in 5 minutes" with the tools he had. I acted impressed, but really, I was actually a bit concerned.
He made me sign a receipt for $109 or he would not unlock my car. When he did unlock it, the panic alarm went off. He didn't know how to stop it, and left me there with a car to drive around with the alarm going off. Truly, I drove around for 2 hours trying to find a mechanic that was open after 7-8PM, and finally had my friend (who is mechanic) disconnect the alarm horn from under my hood.
Overall, I got charged 4x the amount I was advertised, likely worked with a car theif to get my keys back, and spent 2-3 hours fixing my car after it was unlocked. Not a complete, quality service and false advertisement galore.
