Answered an add on Craiglist New Orleans for free Yorkie puppies. Sent an email to get more info. was told he (Michael Brim) works  12 hours a day and doesn't have time for pups. Is not asking any money for them just to have them go to a great home. He is in Augusta Georgia.

Sends an email saying his friend works at a  Pet Courier Service and can ship me the pups for only $120.00 delivered at my door. Send money through Western Union and say it is for a friend. I sent the money.

Received an email of the flight schedule for the pups. Were to be delivered the next morning at 7:45 am. At 8:00 Michael texed to say they need $450.00 for insurance to ship the pups from Mississippi. Keeps telling me they are gonna arrest us for animal abandonment. I asked for the number to where the pups are and he tells me the pups are ok. he just checked on them. I refuse to send any more money so we will see what happens as I am as of now still have him texting me.

Hello i am a Priest and after this Michael confuses to me what happened between him and Charlene, i felt so sorry for the young man and am pleading his names should be cancel off rip off report in other for it not to appear anymore on the search Engine. he has decided to follow a new life with Christ Jesus and the lord says that if any one is in Christ he is a new creature, the old has past and here comes new things. let not punish him for a sin he committed. rigt now he can not enter the Seminary with such a  report.

Should we frustrate his dreams of entering the Seminary  and send him back what he was doing, absolutely no.

Thanks

Alex

I am the original author of the scam report on Michael Brim.  This issue has been resolved by Mr. Brim. He has on March 14, 2013 sent me back my money for the puppies he had advertised. Michael stated he was in need of money and his friends told him what to do to scam people. I was his first victim and he felt so bad about it that he contacted me to tell me how sorry he was for taking my money and that he would send it back to me.  He was true to his word. Michael informed me he is seeking to enter into a seminary to become a priest.  Michael has shown remorse to me for his mistake.  I know he feels really bad for what he has done.

This is a very common scam.  Scammers just lifted a picture of cute puppies from the Internet  and used it to convince you to send them untraceable cash.   There's a very good reason that Craigslist posts the following at the top of all of their ads :

Avoid scams and fraud by dealing locally! Beware any deal involving Western Union, Moneygram, wire transfer, cashier check, money order, shipping, escrow, or any promise of transaction protection/certification/guarantee

"  Send money through Western Union and say it is for a friend.  "

There is a good reason for that.   By getting you to lie about the transfer to Western Union, you were given a transaction that requires no paper trail and minimal identification (usually just the info the YOU send to the recipient).  Scammers know that this is the electronic equivalent of handing cash to a stranger on the street, while blindfolded.    Now you know it too.

They will probably be coming up with horror stories about the mythical puppies being abused or killed if you don't hand over more money.   Since these puppies don't even exist, I suggest that you just cut off contact with the scammers.   There's no upside in continuing to communicate with them.

Just out of curiosity, this scam usually has a connection to the east African nation of Cameroon.  Were you requested to direct the W.U. transfer to Cameroon?
