Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

My pickup's front brakes were starting to grind and I figured the were metal on metal and the discs would need to be turned but beings I had my brakes done there last time a they included a free ifetime warranty on them I would only be paying for the disc to be resurfaced, which was supposed to be $30 a peice on the price board on the wall.

Took my truck in and they said they would have to inspect it it and bring back an estimate. Lo and behold they come back with an estimate of over $1000. They said the discs cant be resurfaced and would have to be replaced and the front end needed a bunch of work and some little cyclinder on the drum brakes on the rear would have to be replaced and the drum brakes had a bunch of heat cracks in them and they wouuld have to be replaced also. They claimed my brake petal must be sinking to the floor witch ismt wasnt I I just took it in mostly for a front barke job. I said you cant just pop some new pads and shoes on them and turns the rotors and call it good enough? "No",  they said they have to do the complete job and the dics were to worn out to be replaced ad they also had to do all the frontend work. $1000 when I allreday had a llifetime warranty on the pads and shoes was way to expensive for my blood and told them they were out of thier minds and to put it all back together and I taking it home and they did as instructed. I can understand a few little extras but over a grand worth, thats nuts!!!

Immediately afterwards I took it to a little auto shop in my hometown and told them I needed a brake job on the front endand check out the back also if they have time. They were able to replace the front pads and resurface the disc which Midas claimed could be done and they said they did notice some small cracks in the shoes in back but it wassnt a big deal as they had plenty of surrface on them and I could have it donr later. I said ok and they charged me $149 out the door.

Never again will I be doing any business with Midas and I highly do not recommend anyone else doing so.

Is 10 years beyond your lifetime warranty?

Regardless or not whether it was 10 years from when I had the original brake work was done, I was expecting to pay to for new pads and shoes and having the rotors turned. The additional front end work was unncessary according to the shop I had it worked on at and the truck now stops on a dime after spending $150. Needless to say the rest of the reports of the Midas chain speak for themselves.

I am sorry that Rick was no longer with the store. I cannot help that he left. That was his decision he was not let go, fired or laid off.

First off the Midas warranty is to cover the parts themselves and does not include the labor. That's how it has always and will always be. When we do a brake evaluation we measure everything. If the rotor are thin and if we are to machine them and they do go under the minimum specifications we cannot put them on any vehicle and let that vehicle leave. Secondly on the rear brakes. If your brake shoes are cracked it is unsafe braking. Also if your wheel cylinders are leaking it is unsafe. I would not be able to do the brake work unless the unsafe braking issues were taken care of. If i could upload the evaluation form I would to show the readers what the braking issues truly were. I would also like to say that this customer had not had ANY brake work done in 10 years!!!!! We operate under a quality program called the Motorist Assurance Program(MAP) where we will not work on a vehicle and allow it to leave in unsafe conditions. If we were to work on a vehicle and allow it to leave with unsafe braking abilities we are not only letting that customer leave and be unsafe but also we would be putting other drivers on the road in unsafe conditions. Midas has been around for a very long time and we hold ourselves to being safe and having quality work.

I used to go to this same Midas location, but several years ago, Rick (the owner/manager) left.  In fact, when I called and asked for him, the woman on the other end was very rude and said, "He is no longer here!"  Doesn't that tell you something when customers keep asking for Rick???  Rick was always very courteous and gave me reasonable quotes for services done.  I trusted this Midas so much that I would drive almost 40 miles just to get my car serviced there -- even though there were other Midas centers closer to me.  Now that Rick is no longer there, the same services now have jacked up prices.  Forget the lifetime warranty.  I'd rather take my car to a trusted mechanic.
