Monitronics International took over my Alarm One contract. ripoff! fraudulent billing, harassment Dallas Texas
In February, 2000 having purchased a new home in Chula Vista, California I wished to provide it with a home security service. At that time I signed a contract agreement with a company named Alarm One. This contract was acquired by Monitronics International, Inc. in or around March, 2000. Monitronics sent me a letter to that affect on March 7, 2000.
The contract I signed with Alarm One was for 36 months. The front of the contract states in bold text the following:
"TERM OF CONTRACT AGREEMENT IS: 36 MONTHS
(FOR SPECIFIC EQUIPMENT AND SERVICE, SEE INSTALLATION AGREEMENT)"
On the reverse side of the agreement there is nothing that states that:
1.) Any notice is required at or near the end of contact agreement to notify of intent not to renew.
2.) There is no provision for any type of automatic renewal.
Now at the end of March, 2003, I still continue to be invoiced by Monitronics International, Inc., harassed by them with telephone calls, and otherwise threatened by them, if I continue to refuse to not pay the invoices.
I have tried many times to explain to them the contract and its provisions as I see them, that the contract has expired, but they refuse to listen and try to resolve this issue.
That is my story.
I have been searching the internet for information on them, who invests in them, what associations they belong to, and so on to contact them. To advise them of their choice of investment, their association member actions, as so forth. I urge all affected parties to do the same. We need to hurt them back in their access to capital and their standing in various associations. Just complaining to them is not working.
