I signed a contract with this joke of an alarm system company in 2/1999 when we purchased our home in Plano, TX. In 2002 I was transferred to TN. In May 2002, when we moved, I contacted the company since I fulfilled my 3 year contract. I was told that the contract automatically renewed for 1 year in 2/02. Well, I looked at my signed contract that I had kept and that was not in the contract. So, I put this contract on hold for 6 months; however, we did not find a home until 1/03. I was receiving a bill, but told them I want it back on hold until I move to a home. I got sick of them and when with another company when I moved in to our new home in 1/02. Then I was sent to a collection agency. . well, I disbutted the claim with the credit agency and since it could no provide it, the collection was removed, However, I then trashed my copy of the contract. That was in late 2003. Now. . forward to 1/07, I received a notice from the credit agency. . that a collection for this claim is back on my report. So, I again disbutted it, but it came back as a true claim.

Well, I REFUSE to pay this since this company is not a customer friendly company and I completed my signed contract obligation and should be month-to-month and able to cancel anytime not setup on a one year new contract. From what I understand, that is against the law in TN to automatically renew contracts, but I have never verified that.

I have stellar credit and if they base my credit on this one item, then that bank or whatever does not deserve my business if you look at my 20+ years of credit history.
