MWI HOMEWORKS MWI CONNECTIONS Sent me a check for $4 so I deposited it. Now I notice that I've been charged $99.95 for some stupid membership for a home improvement club. Internet
I bought some pots and pans for my wife several months ago. Included with them was a free month membership to a coupon 'club' so I figured I'd try it out. Well, I didn't like it. So I called the nummber I was given when I signed up for it to cancel my membership. That never happened. They billed me the $14.95 every other month or so for about 6 months, then they sent me a check for $4.00.
Here is where it gets interesting: What would a hard working mechanic with a pregnant wife do? Deposit the check. I mean, heck, that's a pack of smokes, right? (I've since quit smoking) I was just looking at my online banking account, and found that MWI HOMEWORKS charged me $99.95. So I found the phone number on the Internet and called them. They said that by cashing that check, I agreed to pay $99.95 for a membership to a "Home Improvement" coupon club. They have my address, obviously, I've been getting junk mail from them for months, so they should see the appartment number in the address! I don't need home improvement stuff, I don't own a home.
I never agreed to anything. There was no letter with that check that stated anything about cahsing it ment that I agreed to pay $100 for another coupon club membership.
They say that they are going to refund the $99.95 to my account in two business days. We'll see.
