On June 7th we had an electrical issue in which 240 volts went through our 110 volt system in our RV that resulted in a fire.  Thankfully, my husband was there to put it out before any further damage could be done.  Unfortuneately, the incident ended up frying our entire electrical system and made our RV unlivable (it was a primary residence).

We contacted our insurance company National Interstate Insurance Co and put in a claim.  Since we couldn't live in the RV we had to go to a hotel.  It is now July 22nd and we are still residing in a hotel.  Every time I phone or email them they have done nothing but dance around and informed me they were still "investigating" the incident.  We went out of our way to get them an estimate by the only electrician we could find that would even work on our RV in the Florida Keys and gave an estimate of approx 8,600.00 to repair the electrical (and that included labor).

National Interestate Insurance Co sent out an appaiser who went out of his way to try to get out of totaling the vehicle.  They eventually sent an electrical engineer that found the source of the problem but believes the estimate we got from the electrician was way too high.  And they pulled out a clause in our insurance that says they will not pay for "wear and tear" of the vehicle.  Did I mention it started a fire?

We have now paid almost $5,000.00 in hotel fees and we are still paying for lot rent and for the RV that we can no longer live in.  Our funds are depleteing and if they finally decide not to cover anything we will have no choice but to file bankruptcy because we can no longer pay the loan on the RV in which we have approx $42,000.00 left.

I understand that we had an older RV and things will start to break down; but it did cause a fire (something they seem to keep forgetting) and they knew full well it was our primary residence but did nothing to expedite the investigation.  And they only paid $750.00 of our total hotel bill (I'm surprised they even paid that).

I kept begging them to help us any way they could but did nothing.  I know now that they will not pay for the repairs or help us in any way with the situation they have put us in.  I have reviewed other complaints and they all say the same thing.  They will not pay out for anything.  One woman even got an eviction notice.  And now we will have to spend even more money to declare bankruptcy.

I have been dealing with a gentleman at the company by the name of Robert Wallerstein.  I understand he is just doing his job but I cannot understand why they didn't make a little extra effort to settle this sooner knowing full well the situation we are in.
