Nissan Motor Acceptance Corporation Too unauthorized payments from my checking account and ruined my credit Dallas Texas
In 2003, I requested automatic drafts from my bank account to stop due to job relocation that would change my pay shedule. I informed the company that I would send payment by mail. After several failed attempts, I had to make stop payment through my bank ($30 each). I was not only paying for the non stop of payment but, I also had to pay NSF fees for other checks that I wrote for bills including the checks for Nissan.
My bank advised me to send my request in writing to Nissan and give them a copy of the letter because they were charging my account not once but twice because the first draft did not go through. I sent a certified letter to Nissan requesting draft they immediately discontinue drafts from my checking account and the hardships their lack of efforts to assist me has caused. I gave a copy of the letter to the manager at my local bank for their records.
After 2 months of my request written, drafts continued to come from my account causing it to be overdrawn. This ordeal went on for months and caused me financial hardships. Not only did my checks from Nissan bounce but so did other checks I wrote to pay other bills to other creditors thay I fell behind such as credit cards, student loans etc. It was like some sort of domino affect that was spinning out of control.
I also had to get a forberance on my student loans so that I could try to recover from this mess. I spoke with a supervisor at Nissan on several occasions involving this matter who assured me that it would be corrected but, it was not. Later, Nissan begin to charge me NSF fees because my bank denied payment of the automatic drafts. I had to close my account with my bank and open a new one to stop them from automaically drafting funds from my account.
When I signed up for automatic drafts with Nissan I was told I could discontinue this process at my request at any time. This was not the case. Although this occurred nearly 5 years ago, i'm still suffering this ordeal every time I pull my credit report. I have delinquent reports from Nissan and the other creditors where I fell behind on in payments during this ordeal. This was simply a nightmare that I shouldn't to have gone through. But, it has taught me a lesson never set up monthly drafts from my checking account.
