My wife and I moved from Atlanta to Durham, NC. We employed a moving company, North America Prime, to move from a one-room bedroom apartment to another. They estimated our move at $1250, 8 weeks prior to our move, and offered a 25% discount. On the week of our move, we provided an updated box count, and they lowered our price to $1211. On the day of the move (after arriving 3 hours late, causing us to push back our move in date), they loaded our belongings onto the truck and then quoted a $3600 price (3x the original price), demanding cash (no mention of our agreed upon 25% discount). They threatened not to deliver unless we paid the full amount in cash at the time. Given that it was a Sunday and the leasing office was closing in 1 hour, we were forced to pay. The next day, they arrived 3 hours late, and demanded an extra $150 because they had to park the truck 20 feet from the loading dock. Again, they threatened not to unload our personal items unless we paid in cash.
