I purchased a 2004 Nissan Maxima from North Texas Nissan back in August 2004. At the time I was told that I had to purchase a Service & Maintenance Warranty in order for the deal to go through. I have sinced refinanced the loan and found out this was a huge scam and I could cancel the warranty.

I cancelled the warranty back in January of 2006 and was told it would take 8 - 10 weeks, then was told 12 weeks. I called finance in May and was told that they sent it to accounting. I called Accounting and left a message for the Manager, Stephance Hodges. I received a call back from Megan, who was going to research it. She found out the cancellation was sent with the wrong policy number and that they would expediate another cancellation but that would take 3-4 weeks. This now put the refund into June. I called in June when the 4 weeks were up and found out they sent the check to Nissan. I told her that the car again was refinanced in November. She had to see if the check was returned from Nissan and she would call me back. She didn't call me back and after a week I called her. The check came back and she would have a check for me - but only on the Service Warranty. The Maintenance Warranty she was still checking on. She said I could pick the check up or she could mail it. I told her to mail it. Never got the check, called a few days later and was told the check was mailed AGAIN to Nissan. I told her AGAIN they were not the finance company. She then said she had to speak to someone at my new finance company because they were the lien holder.

So I made that happen the the company told her the money was to go to me. I spoke again to Megan and she had to find out where the check was and was going on vacation but Summer could help. I left Megan a message the next before her vacation to please call me and let me know what she found out. No phone call returned and nothing from Summer. During that weekend I received the check from Nissan and they forwarded the payment to me.

Still no information on the Maintenance Warranty cancellation. I called Stephanie Hodges today and spoke to a Brian in Finance and was given a story, first Stephanie wasn't in and then she was in a meeting and that there has been some misinformation on who the finance company is. I told Brian that I have explained this all to Megan a number of times and no results. My next option is to get a lawyer.

Do not buy a car from this Dealership!!! I have even had problems with the Service Department. They don't return phone calls and mostly THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS ONLY THE MONEY THEY GET!

sometimes extended warranties are needed

Sometimes the extended warranties are needed to do negative equity situations, and other situations to make the numbers work out. Honestly the numbers are moved around for trade in, purchase, warranties and other options to make the numbers work so the bank will approve it. My sister bought a car from the dealership and they needed to add the warranty to make the numbers work in our favor. I know one of the owners and they explained how it worked and why they had to do it. No one wants to lose money to make a deal work, so sometimes these things are needed to say out of the red.
